DMP Brings Vampire Hunter D to the PSP

Half man, half vampire, half off.

D, a sort of lone wolf-like knight-errant, wanders through a far-future post-nuclear Earth that combines elements of pulp genres: western, science fiction, horror, high fantasy, H. P. Lovecraftian mythos, folklore and occult science. The planet, once terrified by the elegant but cruel Nobles ( vampires), ancient demons, mutants and their technological creations, is now slowly returning to a semblance of order and human control — thanks in part to the decadence that brought about the downfall of the vampire race, to the continued stubbornness of frontier dwellers and, to the rise of a caste of independent hunters-for-hire who eliminate supernatural threats. --- wiki

Vampire Hunter D is cool, and the tale of the half breed vampire hunter is coming to a PSP near you. Digital Manga Publishing has released the first book of Hideyuki Kikuchi’s Vampire Hunter D. That's the title by the way. Hideuki Kikuchi's Vampire Hunter D is the condensed retelling of Kikuchi's light novels (which began in 1883.) While part of me really wishes for the deliciously drawn Vampire Hunter D (drawn by the legendary Yoshitaka Amano,) those are held by Dark Horse in the US.

Anyhoo, the first volume is in the PSP store right now, at the low, low cost of $1.99 for the first chapter. I've never read manga on the PSP, but at two dollars, it might be worth experimenting.

It's $1.99 for a chapter not a volume. The PSP comic reader actually works really well, press right on the dpad and it automatically moves and resizes to fit the next panel.

@Vorsic:  oh thanks, I'll fix it now.

This could be fairly pricey depending on how many chapters there are per volume.  Vampire Hunter D is a great manga though so I will probably take a look at it even if I don't buy it all.

What is that image in the middle of the second row? surely that's gotta be a joke and not from the OVA.

Dig Deeper into Vampire Hunter D

In a world where the vampires-- "Nobles" --are losing their power, a handful of stragglers still wreak havoc on humanity. D is a half-vampire who hunts them.
