Discotek Brings Us the Second Fist of the North Star Collection

Another 36 episodes of the classic anime are on the way!

I've already voiced my love for the older shows that got me anime, and Fist of the North Star is one of those beloved memories. Mania reports that Discotek Media has officially announced the second series release, which will include the next 36 episodes in the series (the first 36 were released in July as Volume 1). I've seen some of the first release, and I can vouch that the quality looks great.

If you keep up with Discotek's blog, by the way, you may also have noticed that they also licensed the Galaxy Express 999 film, Project AKO and a couple of live action films, Princess Blade and Aquarian Age. With all these licensing announcements week, I feel like my pocketbook is not ready! maybe I ought to get a part-time job...

Is this Fist of the North Star Kai?  Because I'm on board if that's the case.  This show was surprisingly awesome when I watched a couple of the episodes.  It was interesting how much of an American influence the structure of the show had.  Most of the time in action Anime a protagonist has to struggle defeat the big bad guy(s), where as in American cartoons like G.I. Joe or Transformers the bad guys struggle to defeat the invincible hero.  Kenshiro for most of the show's run was depicted as being an unbeatable hero and even though I don't much care for that antiquated hero archetype from stateside cartoons, the sheer brutality of this show made it worth watching.

@YuiAsakawa:  I'm the same way, I love the newer show that have been out recently, but I still love my old school animeXD
