Defunct Band Danity Kane Scores Manga Series

No, really.

I'm not ashamed to say that I am so out of touch with American pop culture that I had to look up Danity Kane, especially since I then learned that it's not a person, it's one of the girl-groups created via MTV's Making the Band.

Why bring it up? Because word is that eigoMANGA is putting together a Danity Kane manga series-- even though the group broke up in January of 2009. Yeah, I know.

The manga seris will feature illustration by Kim Jimin, is being written by Natasha McGough, and has ben "created" by Dawn Richard, the former frontwoman for the group. A comic book series was also put together for Danity Kane back in 2008 when they were still together, but the manga is apparently going to be a completely different kind of story:

'Danity Kane' is a story about a naive yet powerful youth sent from a distant planet to liberate her people while combating a secret war between them and their oppressors which has spilled onto Earth.

Okay, it sounds really weird, especially for a band that hasn't even been together for over a year, but I looked over the preview images for the book at its official website and I will give it credit for some nice artwork and designs. So I'll actually probably take a look when the first issue comes out this spring. (It's currently planned to be 5 issues long.)

Didn't they learn anything from Avril Lavigne?

Danity Kane is way worse than Avril Lavigne. What's next, a Jersey Shore Manga?

I'd love a Jersey Shore Manga.
