DealWatch: Ponyo, Ghost in the Shell, DBZ, VIZ!

Getcher books and DVDs while they're cheap!

Happy Saturday, everyone! I don't know about you, but one of my few truly "girly" traits is my love for shopping: I like researching what to buy, and I like actually going out and buying, and then I like going home and enjoying whatever new toys I've collected. Love it love it love it.

But I have learned from long experience that not everyone does! So I thought I'd compile a few of the good deals I've sought out/stumbled upon for you folks.

1. Ghost in the Shell Remaster on Blu-Ray for $10.99
It looks like some or all Fry's stores are selling Ghost in the Shell on Blu-Ray for the low low price of USD $10.99 (I was able to find this in the ads for the Bay Area, Dallas, and Las Vegas, the only three places I checked). If there isn't a Fry's near you, you can pick it up online for $13.99 plus shipping, but dude, $11 is a pretty good deal, even if some of the 'upgrades' of the Blu-Ray are questionable.

2. $10 off Ponyo on Blu-Ray
Spotted this one via ANN's Zac Bertschy: if you're willing to install coupon printer software you can pick up $10 off of Ponyo's Blu-Ray release March 2nd, making it a mere $15ish. As for the software, it seems more designed to keep you from getting the coupon on your screen so you can't tweak it than like significant bloatware.

DBZ Kai

3. Cheap Dragon Ball Z (46% off)
Amazon is currently having a sale on all Dragon Ball Z stuff, which includes preorders for Dragon Ball Z Kai on DVD and Blu-Ray, so if you don't have it yet or want to get the latest and greatest version, now you know where to go.

Aaaaaand...

4. Cheap VIZ Books (33% off)
Right Stuf's current sale is on all VIZ manga, graphic novels, and other books, including preorders-- albeit no anime. Now might be a good time to snatch up titles you've been meaning to get to, like 20th Century Boys or Bokurano. I'm planning to pick up Book of Heroes (by Brave Story's Miyuki Miyabe) and maybe another One Piece omnibus.

5. Cheap(er) Figures! 15-20% off
Hobby Search is still having its SAL commemorative sale-- but as of this writing (9am PST), there are only six and a half hours left! The sale ends at 8:30am February 28th in Japan, which is 3:30pm PST/4:30pm CST/6:30pm EST on February 27th. You get 15% off most items, or 20% off certain Gundam, car, and other hobby figures. If you're a regular buyer there, you also get 5% extra bonus points (which can later be used to offset the costs of other figures).

By the way: I don't always get to post all the deals that I find, whether I'm just too busy or it's not a big enough deal to make a separate post about. For those times, I've started a DealWatch thread on the forums-- and you guys should submit deals you come upon too! We may even have a little something extra for those of you who submit deals that then make it into one of these DealWatch roundups.

Back to business: what are you gonna buy? I'm making a Fry's run anyway, so I think I'll pick up the GitS Blu-Ray and see how it all goes.

I have Fry's elections near me.  I should maybe get their to see if they have these deals.

As far as I know, Fry's uses uniform ads, though I could be wrong.

Either way I looked at one in San Jose and they didn't have GitS 2.0. Slightly disappointing... so I bought a laptop instead.

I was talking about the Fry's Elections store.  It's easier to go their and than it is to pay extra money for shipping.
