Detective Office 5
Detective Office 5
Boy, talk about ask and ye shall receive-- I just posted the Anime Vice interview with Crunchyroll today, in which I asked if the site was going to try and license Asian dramas (which have been popular in the illicit fansub format on the site for some time, but will be purged when CR goes legit on January 8), and was told that they were indeed looking at it.

And now they've gone and licensed one! The series is called Detective Office 5, a 50-episode film noir-esque mystery drama. Crunchyroll already has a page up for the series, and here's their blurb:

From the creator of Maiku Hama, Kaizo Hayashi, and one of the biggest successes in the Japanese IT industry, Hiroki Ohwada, come the DETECTIVE OFFICE 5 (Tantei Jimusho 5 探偵事務所5), a brand-new film-noir series with 50 drama-packed episodes rich in image and ideas. Hayashi and Ohwada present cinematic dreamscapes that are dark and mysterious, at times sinister, and always seductive. Innocence and nobility swirl into this world with deadly precision, transporting views into a realm filled with danger, romance, and intrigue.

I'm really excited for them, not to mention the series itself sounds fun. It looks like the videos are supposed to be available now, but when I went to the video page it says they're not available yet, so I'm not quite sure what's going on there.

maxwell: Me too! I would just die if they could get Kisarazu Cat's Eye. I totally want to rewatch that. And I still haven't seen the second movie..
