As you might’ve noticed, we seriously dig Richie Branson’s flavor of nerdcore. He’s the dude who did a whole EP about GUNDAM and, now , he’s turned anime rapping into a weekly endeavor with Otaku Tuesdays. Today, he’s paying tribute to INITIAL D (that long and voluminous drift-racing love letter) with a track entitled “Tofu Delivery.” Last Tuesday, he gave COWBOY BEBOP’s Spike Spiegel and his crew their due with “Space Cowboy Serenade.”
(I’ve got to say, every time I heard the sax in “the Real Folk Blues” play, I always thought it was ripe for sampling. Good to see that thought become reality.)
So what anime’s getting the Richie B. treatment next Tuesday? Well, that might actually be up to you.
Following my humble suggestion, the man’s taking requests. Have you always wanted to hear a rap about EVA? Maybe FIST OF THE NORTH STAR? DBZ? VOLTRON? SAMURAI CHAMPLOO? LUPIN III? Or perhaps something a little more obscure? The avenue’s straight and open for you to put your kicks on and hop along to tell Mr. Branson what you want to hear. Take advantage of it!

Samurai Champloo already has a rap.
Samurai Champloo, along with Afro Samurai, are heavily hip-hop/rap culture-based and don't need more done. However, I am not opposed to someone doing so.
You can't really go wrong with a DBZ rap.
Cybertronian Rap based on Transformers
Thundercats HO! based on Thundercats
Bent on destruction based on Avatar
Go Voltron Force: Based on Voltron
You can't go wrong with Dragon Ball Z. But it should be for Vegeta, He is after all the Prince of all Sayains!
Oh another good choice would be Hellsing or even a classic like Vampire Hunter D. Heck Akira needs some lovin too. In reality theres just so many good ones! One of my favorte comidies is Goldenboy.
Why do I feel that old school anime is best suited for rap aggrandizement? I like the Vampire Hunter D and Akira suggestions. I would guess that Ghost in the Shell would follow. Bubblegum Crisis is a franchise that originally had a very strong focus on music, so that could be cool. Four girls in armor fighting robots in future Tokyo...well, I'm not sure if there's enough plot to do a proper rap song. On the other hand, City Hunter would be a pretty good fit, I'd say. While there's no over-arching storyline, there are plenty of colorful characters and enough interesting moments to serve as inspiration. A similarly structured show, Galaxy Express 999 would also be good source material. An odd pair traveling across a universe full of secrets and danger aboard a special space-faring train. As a bonus to that series, sidebars to Captain Harlock and Queen Emeraldas can be made.
Like many have said, can't go wrong with Dragon Ball Z.
The CD cover should have a photoshopped Vegeta on it, all blinged-up 50 Cent style.
I would like to see him take on ONE PIECE. I was sorely disappointed when I did a search for ONE PIECE dub step. and only found clips of ONE PIECE with dub step songs played over it.
GURREN LAGANN could also be pretty cool.
I'd personally like him to do something that isn't very action heavy and kinda out of place with rap. Like a High School Romance series. Or you know, School Days.
Yeah, I'd be pretty amused by a School Days rap.
I'd take a comedy parody, Linkin Park styled, based around Eva and Shinji.
