Comic Con is a celebration of basically all of pop culture. That's a fact - - not an opinion.
Following that, the inspirations for the costumes photographed here run the wide gamut from kung fu flicks to indy comics to viral videos you saw online two weeks ago. And, of course, even though anime/manga wasn't the main focus of the cosplay, it still accounted for a hearty and robust percentage. See, it's all about inclusiveness at SDCC, so I never turned down an opportunity to take a snappy of a cool costume just because it didn't happen to be based on something from Japan.
Sort through the smorgasbord of costumes here and let me know which ones you like the best in the talkback below. I can't say that I noticed any particular trends in costuming like I did at AX2012, but I did like Zero (from MEGA MAN X) the most for the simple reason that she made me think of all the combos I use to regularly dominate challengers whilst playing as the character in MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3. (Because it's always about me, you see.)
I do have to give major kudos to the Kamen Rider/Masked Rider, though. He went above and beyond to recreate all the details of the get-up authentically. So much so that I'm pretty it looks better than the one that was actually worn on the show.
Anyway, go on and enjoy the pics.
