Community Spotlight 6/28/12

I sure didn't get any sleep last night putting this Anime Vice Community Spotlight together. You all are well worth the effort. Part of the reason for the sleepless night was due to a bit of slacking off from writing while I finished up watching The Legend of Korra. I only watched the first few episodes of the original AVATAR cartoon. I have to say that I can really see why the anime crowds accept this series so warmly. It's an impressive hybrid of Western and Japanese animation style and story telling. It was highly recommended to me, and I can certainly echo that same sentiment to you, as well. Though, this is starting to almost sound like a review. Moving on.

I hope you all read Tom's article about his plans to attend this year's ANIME EXPO convention this year. If you're attending, and you see him. Be sure to take him to the maid cafes and buy him a cup-o-tea or chilled bottle of Tentacle Grape!.....(I'll never get over that soda name.).

I would like to start working on a community experiment. My idea is that once a week, all you users who check read the spotlight should link one friend a page you like on Anime Vice. Even if it's not your work. Show them something you saw on the site you think is cool, or use the link to suggest a manga/anime series for them to try out.

Anime AMV Showcase

We've had a lot of compilation AMVs these past few weeks, and I really love those. They show a certain level of editing dedication that should be respected. However, I'm taking a step back this week for a rather nicely done AMV dedicated toHinata's fight against Pain. I criticize NARUTO quite a bit for being in a nearly endless cycle of train, fight, train, fight; but whenKishimoto comes with the drama. The man comes HARD. When I first read this it was heartbreaking, and it's no less painful to watch animated. A spoiler warning on this one if you haven't watched this fight.
