Candidate for Live-Action Ninja Scroll Arrested

Uh-oh. SMAP is in trouble...and they were going to be cast in an anime movie.

Those of you who follow Japanese music will be familiar with SMAP, sometimes referred to as Japan's top idol group. Formed in '88, debuted in Japan in '91, and as far as I know not yet debuted in North America, the band has run into trouble lately. Some people even thought the band would break up after Takuya Kimura got married and Goro Inagaki got into traffic trouble, but it hasn't happened yet.

...If it were going to, though, it would probably happen soon. SMAP member Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, the “gentle,” Korean-speaking member of the band, has been arrested for being both drunk and nude in public. He reportedly had to be wrapped in a sheet to be taken to the station because he resisted arrest, and apparently the media in Japan has gone crazy cancelling SMAP-related appearances due to a general policy of blacklisting poorly-behaving talent.

I wonder what, if anything, this might mean for the possibility of Leonardo DiCaprio casting them in the live-action Ninja Scroll?...

He must have had a lot of suppressed feelings over the years ahah, poor him. I hope they cut him a bit of slacl, he has been on good behaviour for the past 20 years in one of the most popular male group in asia (2 DECADES DAMMIT) but then again its still bad. Japan is tough D:
