Buy Haruhi Artist Noizi Ito's Second Designer Netbook

Or, y'know, don't. It's very pretty though.

A while ago a 10" netbook was released in Japan that got anime and manga fans particularly excited-- because it featured a character named Neon, designed by Noizi Ito. You probably know Ito's work even if you don't realize it: she illustrates both the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Shakugan no Shana light novel series, which means the resulting character designs in the anime are also more or less hers.

A second 10" Noizi Ito netbook-- and, in my opinion, an even cuter one --has been announced! Called Shiro-Tsubaki (where "shiro" is white and "tsubaki" is the camellia flower), the netbook has decent specs: an Atom N280 processor (which is last gen compared to the 450, but eh), 2gb of RAM (very nice on a netbook), a 320gb SATA HDD, and other standards (SD card reader, 1024x600 screen, etc). The price is ¥59,800, about $650 US-- a fair bit for a netbook, but I could easily see a specialty item like this going for more, too.

Oh, and there's an added bonus: built into the (32-bit) Windows 7 install is a "seiyuu set" featuring what I must assume is the official voice of Tsubaki-chan, voice actress Mia Naruse (H2O: Footprints in the Sand's Otoha).

Seriously though, i really love Tsubaki's character design, with the cute wa-loli outfit (Japanese-style lolita, as in the kimono top with poofy short skirt, as opposed to the more standard Western-style gothic lolita designs) and the little bunny plush. The design is also well0implemented on the computer itself, IMO.

P.S. Dear source Japanator: you should #otakumanup and not worry so much about whether it's okay to use a cute computer in public. If you like it, use it, if you don't, don't!

If they made a Shin Chan netbook with artwork of him showing his ass on the back, I would buy it.

@JJOR64: Haha, that'd be awesome! Why hasn't someone done that?

So cute! :3

Way cute! I vote for more anime netbooks, granted I don't have the funds to buy them, but nevertheless!

@Lan: Yeah. I'm in the market for a netbook, but nothing that expensive.

Always surprised that the more heavily-merch'd series in the US don't have more stickers/seals. There used to be TONS of Sailor Moon sticker things available. :\
