Today: Episode 2 - The Dew God's Small Shrine

Yesterday's episode, the first, introduced us to Natsume-kun, a young man who is also an orphan, tossed around from home to home, and who can also see youkai (demons-- to put it a bit oversimply). He also gets chased by them every so often, and Natsume learns that his latest home is where his grandmother used to live. She, too, could see demons...but she would bind them against their will or otherwise abuse them. So Natsume goes about setting things right.

Which makes me go d'awww! I also want my very own Nyanko-sensei, because he's awesome. I'm really looking forward to episode two, so let's get on with it already!

This episode isn't working either, looks like I'll have to miss this anime. Oh well, I can make a start on catching up with podcasts instead!

Aw Tsuyukami's such a nice guy. Nyanko-sensei is funny.

I think it's sold out now but there is a plush of Nyanko-sensei

One thing that the anime isn't clear on, but gets confusing later if you aren't told this:  Reiko (Natsume's grandmother) didn't live in that house, she lived in that town.  The Fujiwara family has owned that house for a while, and they weren't related to Reiko but to the other side of Natsume's family, and then only as distant in-laws.

I'm still trying to figure out how Natsume has his grandmother's maiden name...

I liked this episode.  I was always intrigued by the notion that some things exist only because we believe in them.

That was a very beautiful episode, i almost cried near the end. I cant believe how much I'm liking this story so far. I just hope it doesn't turn into some action fighting series and stays at a nice even pace like this.

There is a free Nyanko-sensei papercraft to download. I haven't tried it out so I don't know how hard it is to make, but the result is pretty cute.
