BLEACH: The Lost Shinigami Story Begins this October!!

Ichigo may have lost his powers, but the journey back for this red-haired hero begins October 11th.

If you're a fan of the big Shonen Trilogy anime series, October is looking to be a big month for you. One Piece is going to be having their time skip the beginning of next month, and the recent release of Shonen Jump and BLEACH Ch. 465 has more exciting news. The anime BLEACH, based on Tite Kubo's original manga that began in 2001, is in for a change to celebrate 10 years of the manga.

Ichigo Kurosaki defeated Aizen and sacrificed his shinigami powers to save his family, friends, and the world. That arc of the story in the anime ended months ago, but the BLEACH anime series has since been in fillers, as per their standards. That all comes to an end on October 11, 2011. BLEACH is going to be having their first major time skip to start off it's next great struggle. 17 months have passed since Ichigo became just another powerless human. Our hero is feeling useless to his friends and family, and a stranger named Ginjo appears to offer Ichigo a way back with a new power called Fullbring. The beginning of the Lost Shinigami Arc has been announced in this week's Shonen Jump, and it has some preview images of some of the new cast. Like with One Piece, BLEACHdoesn't seem to be getting the Naruto Shippuden-esque re-branding for this new era. None of the promotional images have shown any changes to the BLEACH logo.

Studio Pierrot first began releasing the BLEACH in October 5th 2004, and the website Crunchyroll has been streaming the series legally for the U.S. audience. Unlike FUNimation's policy of airing One Piece the same day the episode airs in Japan, Crunchyrollholds the episode for several days for paid members and longer for non-paying users. So, while this episode airs on October 11th in Japan. We wont get our turn until about a week later.

Man, finally - cant wait for this. I'm still a sucker for Bleach.

The manga has been on this arc for a while now, but I've been keeping away from the majority of spoilers. I wonder if he'll eventually get his full powers back (black chains and all) or just become a lowly shinigami. I still think his final level of powers rendered him one of the coolest looking characters in anime.

Spoiler - Fullbring isn't the stopping point, just a step towards getting his old powers back. And he succeeds - at least to some extent.

Shit, I haven't watched Bleach in a while...I have missed a lot haven't I.

selfconfessedcynicon Sept. 22, 2011 at 3:22 p.m.

@gla55jAw: lol - well, not if you include the fillers. Ep. 310 is where the canon ends - and the last parts of the Arrancar / Aizen arc go all the way crazy. Worth watching imo, at least if you liked Bleach to begin with.

Daniel_Newton moderator on Sept. 22, 2011 at 3:32 p.m.

Premium Crunchyroll members get it like an hour after it airs in Japan.

It's good to know when we'll be moving on from the filler arc to the current manga arc, I was wondering how much longer the filler would go on for. Not that I was desperate, the current Bleach filler is probably my favourite, it's excellent.

rubberluffyon Sept. 22, 2011 at 3:36 p.m.

All the Aizen stuff really started to kill my interest and the finale of it was really the final nail. Is the timeskip arc actually interesting or is it still full of the same Bleach BS I already got sick of?

Bleach is one of my favorites. Usually I go on and off a few months so I can watch what I missed in marathons, but it's been about a year since I've watched any. I think I was around 275ish. At least that is what episode is on my computer.

finally! Bleach Part II has arrived! at least we had a good filler to keep us company while we waited! in comparison, I haven't watched Naruto in about a month thanks to these annoying and poor fillers.

Pacmanlhon Sept. 22, 2011 at 4:25 p.m.

Yeah, the filler was one of the better ones but give me my cannon stuff now!

@Newten:

Oh, I thought that Crunchyroll had a short delay on new animes. Even for paying members.

@rubberluffy:

I felt the same way about BLEACH. The Aizen story I found a little boring just because it was dragging on for too long. I've been following the new story. While I felt kind of weird to begin with. I love where it's forcing Ichigo to go emotionally. He's been pushed so far by a new villan that he's actually willing to kill someone. This person crossed a serious line with Ichigo.

selfconfessedcynicon Sept. 22, 2011 at 6:31 p.m.

@FoxxFireArt:

Yup, I signed up for premium Crunchyroll recently - they don't have their full catalogue for Australian members, but it aint bad for 6ish bucks a month. The 1-hour-after-air thing and the ipad app are great.

As for this new arch, I agree that it looks really really promising, and yeah - not only is Ichigo pissed, he's also a bit older and wiser now. Perhaps more blood will be spilled in general - I don't really like how everything seems to work out in the end thus far.

Awesome. I'm pretty pumped now.

Hopefully, I have time to watch Bleach. Can't wait see how some of the characters change.

Go Chad!

ninjacommandoon Sept. 23, 2011 at 1:44 a.m.

So basically they'll show three new episodes, and then cut back to fillers? as usual. and then after a long and crappy filler arc, they cut back in the middle of the story for another couple episodes and blow us with more awful filler.

I don't care for the Bleach anime anymore.

sickVisionz moderator on Sept. 23, 2011 at 7:57 a.m.

I'm usually excited for a return to canon but ugh, Ichigo is doing battles against characters with magic My Little Pony Dollhouses, powered up LV Boots and enchanted PSPs in this arc. I thought a sword that turns into pink razor flowers and Tousen turning into a giant hairy fly was kind of silly, but this arc has taken goofy power ups to new extremes.

FoxxFireArt moderator on Sept. 23, 2011 at 8:54 a.m.

@ninjacommando:

True, but that's why I've cataloged on BLEACH series page which episodes are canon or filler.

@sickVisionz:

But the payoff is watching Kenpachi owning some fool big time near the end, and it's just just pure satisfaction embodied? I don't think I'll be happy with BLEACH until they show us Yoruichi's Bankai.

@takashichea:

I think BLEACH probably had one of the least satisfying post-time skip character changes. Everyone in Ichigo's class already look like their are in their late 20s to begin with.

AgentJon Sept. 23, 2011 at 11:43 a.m.

Man, when was the last time I actually watched the anime? I suppose I stopped completely during the zanpakutou arcs, but I hadn't really been watching that closely since long before then. I mean, when the animation quality and story fluctuate as much as it always did with Bleach, you almost wonder what the point is. That said, I suppose it will be cool to see the new characters and powers animated (especially Ichigo's part-time employer). I really should go back and watch his fight with Aizen. and Ulquiorra. Thats how long it's been since I've watched.

tacosRcoolon Sept. 26, 2011 at 9:17 a.m.

I have totally given up on Bleach in general. I can't believe that it is still going on. Last time I checked I was around 300. No more Bleach for me
