So far, this hasn't really gone much of anywhere since the previous chapter. However, it's not as bad as I would have imaged it could be. Candice Catnipp & Pals are keeping things just entertaining enough to the point where I'm still having some fun with it. That actually surprised me, and it's a positive nod to Kubo's cast.
This does raise at least one interesting detail. As we now know, the smaller of the Zangetsu is the embodiment of the Zangetsu imposter, Ichigo's inherit Quincy abilities. We see him use this one to deflect the light arrows. Could that be its primary ability? It's a zanpakuto that cancels Quincy power? That would be pretty cool, if true.
No matter how many giant attacks we see these girls pull out, I'm just not buying them as a threat, at least to Ichigo. The only reason they took out Kenpachi was due to the damage he suffered in the battle with Gremmy. That doesn't make them more threatening. Ichigo outclasses these girls by so much that this fight should have been long over. All he's doing is just deflecting. I'm willing to bet that this is only going on because Ichigo's taking it easy on them.
I think it's safe to say that this entire chapter pretty much exists to give Kubo an excuse to have Ichigo pull off a brand new attack in the finale. It's an overly extended set up for a cliffhanger ending. It's not great, but it was still a pretty fun read. That's due in part to the cool action and personalities on display.
