Bizarre Lovecraftian Parody Light Novel Haiyore! Nyaruko-San To Get TV Anime

From last year's announcement of an online flash anime to this, perhaps Nyaruko-san IS the harbinger of Cthulu's coming.

As a messenger of the Outer Gods, Nyarlathotep has a thousand horrifying forms with which it roams the Earth enslaving humans.

Last year we ran a story about the light novel comedy Haiyore! Nyaruko-San getting an anime adaptation deal for an online flash series. Shamefully, I have no clue what happened with that (readers, if you're in the know, please comment and enlighten us), but it might be a moot point now that its author, Manta Aisora, announced on Twitter today (seen via ANN) that the series has been given the go-ahead to be adapted into a TV anime. Let the Lovecraftian loli action begin!

Readers familiar with H.P. Lovecraft's horror may be familiar with the deity Nyarlathotep, a.k.a. The Crawling Chaos. He/she/it's a sort of messenger of the Outer Gods that mentally enslaves human beings, usually as a charismatic man. Well, not here. In Haiyore! the abomination takes the form of a silver-haired young girl who saves a high school boy from aliens and takes to hanging around him. Those wacky Outer Gods--you never know what they're going to do next (probably enjoy some shaved ice and attend a summer festival). If this surrealistic plot intrigues you then keep an eye out for the series in the near future.

@Killajade: So there was a flash animation then? Any chance you could point us in the direction of that?

As someone who spent two semesters of college researching Lovecraft and his writings for a project, I'm not at all surprised that one of the ancient horrors would choose to look like a loli. No other appearance could be such a perfect storm of heart fluttering cuteness and mind crushing terror.

I watched about half of the ONA episodes and didn't laugh once. If that's indicative of what will become the TV series then I think I can safely pass on this one.
