Needs more bandages

love it.

If there's two things I associate with Rei, its a cold, emotionless exterior... and bandages. In the Mark 2 of Shunya Yamashita's Rei Ayanami, you get the same exact figure just "better" and for 20 dollars more. The largest modification is the inclusion of a 2nd head, adorned with those iconic bandages. Yamashita, of Final Fantasy X fame, really seems to know how to put together his parts. Though, I have to say I'm conflicted. When she's not wearing the bandages, her hands look... awkward. Like, what is she doing... dancing? Looking at the concept sketches, I see what the goal was, but I think it was missed.

Butt!

Well, and my second issue is that I wish there was a cm more fabric in her dress. In what could be a sensual, yet not explicit figure just kind of crosses a line to more base desires there.

Plus, it could always use more bandages. This Yamato figure comes out September 2010, for 8,800 yen.

What a beautiful figure i would so want it if only it wasn`t that skimpy (i like the real plug suit more) each their own i guess

Cool looking figure. It just doesn't look much like Rei. It looks like a model in a Rei costume.

Looks pretty nice, I think I have the previous version. I wish they did look more like Rei, but it was a bit of a convention splurge.

this is so utterly unlike the show, so self-serving and pandering to the fanboys, that my Evangelion fansite refuses to report on it.

My only exposer to Evangelion has been 1.11 but I agree, she looks older. Thumbs down.

Oh good grief. Evangelion aired in '95. If Gainax didn't feed the fanboys with re-releases and this sort of stuff Eva would have been cold and dead in the ground for a decade by now. While I'm not condoning the if-it's-eva-so-it's-good mentality of some members of the fandom, I won't ignore it either because it's not 100% cannon. This is another artist's sexed-up take on a character from a series he didn't make. It's like sexy cosplay, in plastic form. The figure looks well made, and in this wonderful world of capitalism we live in, it'll sink or swim on its merits.

Personally I'll wait for his Asuka model :)

Some time ago they sold the two at a special price.
I own that figure; and though it is 'underdressed' the paint job and sculpting are so good you forget about the fact it's a 'hot' version of Rei.
