My, what an adorable scooter helmet you have there little girl and...OH GOD!
Japanese light novel author NisiOisiN
is a man who likes his word play. A lot. Not only is his pen name an English palindrome, the titles of his works are, so far, all portmanteaus: his breakthrough success, 2006's light novel Bakemonogatari
, is a combination of bakemono
("monster") and monogatari
("story"). If you liked that title's slightly naughty (I guess we call it "fan service") anime adaptation then you'll want to know that the rumored second anime follow-up to that series, Kizumonogatari
, has just been greenlighted. ANN is reporting
that the announcement came via an inserted card included with copies of the just-released Nekomonogatari
novel. The project is being overseen by Kodansha and NisiOishiN with production by Aniplex
and all the actual hard work done by SHAFT, Inc
's story is a prequel to the first series and will apparently focus more on Shinobu Oshino
, the blond-haired vampire who appears to be a young girl, but is actually a formerly fearsome 500-year-old nightstalker. By the way, a "kizumono" in Japanese spoiled or damaged goods, which seems a perfect description for Shinobu.
