AX09: Production I.G

Does Production I.G have anything up his sleeve?

I don't know if Production I.G will have any real news for us, but we might hear more about FUNimation's upcoming Sengoku Basara release. So I'll go ahead and liveblog away!  The Production I.G rep, Maki, has a LOT of giveaway items. And she's going to start by talking about Sky Crawlers, which Sony has released on DVD and Blu-Ray.

I.G's recent projects that they're looking to license include Tales of Vesperia, as well as Eden of the East, which we are getting a short sneak peek of the movie (just some of the TV summary part), and Musashi. Then there's Abunai Sisters, about a couple of girls with huge boobs....and the CG movie Oblivion Island.

We get two big announcements, one of which is that there will be a big announcement at San Diego Comic Con (and the president of I.G will be present)-- it's with Xbox on Sunday July 23rd.

There IS an announcement for today, but not until after the video clips.

ANNOUNCEMENTS!

First: Film Roman's Joe comes up to say hi. Film Roman is a sister company to Manga Entertainment, I believe. They're working with EA  to make an anime to go with the EA game Dante's Inferno, like the Deadspace: Downfall film. But instead, it's going to be animated shorts from different studios along the lines of the AniMatrix, and Production I.G is one of the studios they're working with, it seems. They have Kite director Yasumi Umetsu, Ergo Proxy's Shugou Murase, and other studios and directors as well-- six total. That sounds kinda cool, actually. There'll be a trailer at San Diego Comic Con on the Thursday.

Q&A

There probably won't be much of interest here, but Maki notes that yes, I.G was unhappy with Dreamworks' handling of the original Ghost in the Shell, and that they were not involved in the selection of Dreamworks for the upcoming 3DCG flick-- they sold the rights to Avi Arad of Seaside Entertainment, who picked Dreamworks.

...That's really it for that one.

Gia, will you be at the NISA panel as well? I rather hope so, it seems like big things might be doing down there.

Also agreeing with the Vesperia prediction.

Oh wow, Visceral Games (Dead Space guys) seem to really be a fan of doing a big package of ip stuff like with Dead Space and now D.I.
Interesting business model. Do hope that this turns out better than Downfall thought >_>''.

Did everyone one ooo and ahh whenever Eden was brought up?
Did they now?

@John_Martone: They did! They were making such a fuss over getting to see the movie trailer that Maki was like "it's the recap part, it's not that exciting," and one guy yelled "YOU'RE SPOILING IT!" and she said "okay, okay, it's super exciting! you'll pee your pants!"

Imagine that in cute-Japanese-girl voice and you'll have the full effect.

They have Kite director Yasumi Umetsu on board.  Get really for one of those new anime short's to have a story to have a  really old man dateing a really young women.  Kite, Mezzo Forte and Yellow Star were all like that.
