Naruto #601 - Obito and Madara
In a Nutshell
Tobi gives Madara back his fan and the two continue their battle against Naruto and friends. Elsewhere, Tsunade makes preparations to save the Kages from imminent death.
High Points
- Madara is back and kicking ass.
- We get to see a little bit of Madara and Obito's past as well as some banter about their plans.
Low Points
- They totally cut out the awesomeness of Madara beating the crap out of the Kages.
- Boo hiss! People who should be dead will be saved!
Rants and Raves
While I will forever be upset that the cutout Madara running through the Kages and I Hate HATE HATE HATE LOVE H-A-T-E the fact that the Kages will be saved from death, I really enjoyed this chapter. The banter between Obito and Madara was interesting and it provided some insight into both their plan and their partnership. I can't wait for next week's chapter where we should see a full flashback about how the two first hooked up.
On a silly note, I like how all the Kage are near the point of death but the one that got bisected is the only one conscious and able to still cast jutsu and do summons.
Grade
B+. This chapter violated a cardinal sin I have about not letting characters die but there was too much good for that to bring it down into negative territory.

Really good stuff I tell you! Should be interesting to see where Sauske comes into play
If my brain was active enough that caption would have been a quote from Pulp Fiction: Nah man, I'm pretty f*ckin far from being ok.
well you may get your wish, since Tsunade is cut in half, so unless she can restore the other kages fast enough, she's done for.
@Om1kron: then how does old Madara have a sharingan when he saves obito
@Toxin45: Madra is an Uchiha. They all have the Sharingan.
I liked were Tsunade ended up XD
Oh, come on. You knew that everyone was going to be okay. After what Kishimoto did during the Pain saga nothing was off the table here.
At this point I am skimming over everything until we get to that explanation about Obito still being alive. That's all I want right now.
Hmm, so what happen to the army of Ninja? It have been 28 chapters since we last see them, this doesn't really feel like a war
I love how you see Tsunade and she is able to talk, cast justu, oh she must just be really hurt then they show where her legs are. XD I can only assume she thought she was okay as she was talking to the slug, "Oh no I'm fine my legs are broken so I can't feel my them or my back is broken." Massive denial.
when he said they arent doing so good they shoulda had like body parts everywhere lmaooo like gaara's arm, tsunades pig tails lol. but i dont see whats the point of saving them they will just get beat again madara is beyond everyone at this point..

Everyone that didn't have a name were clowns anyways. One Rock Lee is equal to like 50 unnamed ninjas in terms of fighting abilities. Anyways, I think they'll show up for one of three reasons:
@jj_jackson: I don't think they'll be fighting again. They had their shot and now it's time for the big boys (Sasuke and Naruto) to play. I think Gai and Kakashi are about to be out of the fight pretty soon.

Still blows ass though.
@sickVisionz:
I bet all three of them will happen :/
While it may be kind of cheesy that the Kages survive, it would have been more cheesy if they died from an off-screen battle.
@Acura_Max: It would have sucked that they didn't show it but their deaths would have been a nice dramatic turn. As it is now, they still didn't show them go down and they added a layer of cheesiness by Tsunade saving them. It will mildly redeem itself if Tsunade dies to save them... but it'd be better (and 0% likely) imo if she dies trying to save them, but fails and they die anyways.
I'm not a death fiend, but this war was supposed to be something brutal and serious but all that's happened so far is...
This whole war thing has been a cakewalk for the good guys. The Kages dying would have brought some sense of danger to it all. As it is now, they'll all be saved or the only death in the war will be someone sacrificing themselves to save others.
