In a Nutshell
After revealing that Ichigo Kurosaki's mother was a Quincy, Juha Bach leaves Soul Society and the Gotei 13 is left to deal with the loss of Yamyam.
High Points
- Quincification?!? Wait, no, but still...
- Juha and his homeboy are uber powerful.
- Aizen trolling people for no reason other than to show that he can still do it.
- This is the first time since a filler episode like 3 years ago that any progress has been made with Ichigo and his mother.
Low Points
- It's the same old, same old story structure Kubo's been using.
- Nobody other than Yamyam died.
Rants and Raves
This is specifically aimed at 515, but I was really impressed that there was a Bleach chapter with no powerups or fighting that was actually a good read. Tite Kubo's god awful attempts at comedy snuck in there, because god forbid you have a serious chapter that resonates emotionally, but even with those this was a good chapter. The previous ones were fun to read as well.
On a lesser note, every time I see Bow Wow I wonder if Kubo is seriously going to let it slide that this is like the only Wolf Man on the planet but nobody seems shocked by it. Was he the product of some wicked bestiality or is there a tribe of wolf men out there somewhere? These questions must be answered, dammit!
Grade
B+. Bleach has been pretty good these past few weeks.
William Taylor holds Bleach deeply in his heart, but when he thinks about it, it makes him want to fart. Unlock the mystery on Twitter @mrsickvisionz.

Really Kubo, you couldn't kill Byakuya? Also who is the guy with that sword? (it been 15 chapters already)
well in case any of you missed my thread about ichigos mother and the future of bleach let me clarify something...
@taichokage: seeing as how kubo said that grimmjow never died, my money is riding that its him, but then again he rarely uses a sword. it is most likely someone we all know, new characters dont seem to last long in bleach. he likes to keep it inside the gotei 13 losers.
BLEACH seems to be a practice of how many powers can you give to a single protagonist. He's a Soul Reaper, he uses Fullbring, and now he also has Quincy abilities.
Next thing we're going to learn that Ichigo's mother is the sister of Ryuken Ishida, and Ichigo and Uryuu are cousins.
@taichokage: I was surprisingly relieved Byakuya is still alive. He is one of the most interesting characters in Bleach. I kinda wanted Kenpachi to die tho.
The Death of Yamyam and his homeboy made it seem like there was finally going to be a possibility that the good guy's lives are on the line. Now we're back to nonsense like the little girl Vaizard getting sliced in half and somehow being ok by the end of the arc.
Long ago knowing that Ichigo's mother was a Quincy would amazed me, but right now, when I just continue reading Bleach because I've read too far to give up (knowing that this will be the last saga and all) when Juha revealed it I was like:
I was shocked when they revealed Byakuya was alive I thought he was dead and that is what he didn't want to tell Rukia. I thing the thing that hindered this chapter the most was the mix of stupid humor and seriousness. Soul Society is literally in pieces, captains are injured, thousands of nameless soldiers dead why the hell were people making jokes in the beginning. If they would have kept a serious tone the part with the captains would have had more of an impact. Konamura flipping shit, Soifon Miss cold hearted assassin herself losing it, and Shunsui being the calm rock.
Btw does anybody else think that Shunsui can rock a eye patch like nobody else :P Also I can see him as taking the reigns of temporary Captain Commander.
Keep up the good work with music references in your titles, sir :)
@CapeBarnes: Indeed, good sir. Indeed. Still waiting for the 90s TV reference to get spotted tho!
Didn't the leader of the Quincy army call Ichigo his son or something? If he did, I find that a little strange. Ichigo has the powers of a soul reaper, a visored, Fullbring and a Quinciy. What's next, his hollow powers allow him to transform like an Arrancar like Tosen did? I don't mind Ichigo having all these abilities but dang how power can you put on a character? Here's an idea, not to be taken seriously, Ichigo goes Super Sayain and with his visored powers becomes a Super Visored Quincy or something.
