Bleach #503 - Wrath as a Lightning
In a Nutshell
Kenpachi jokes about how weak the Vandenreich Leader is and attacks him. Elsewhere, Hisagi is getting taken to the cleaners but it saved at the last moment by the Captain Commander.
High Points
- The reveal that one of the Vandies is named "The Yourself, Loyd Lloyd".
Low Points
- A whole lot of nothing took place in this chapter.
Rants and Raves
That low point really sums it up. Nothing really happened this chapter. Kenpachi revealed that he is strong and savage bastard, as if that was ever in question, Ichigo yelled, and someone got saved at the last minute. This is your typical standard, bland Bleach chapter.
Grade
This chapter gets a well deserved C-. There wasn't anything terrible but the only positive thing I can say about it is that an enemy had an incredibly stupid name that made me wonder if it was be pronounced in the exxagerated way that Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez pronounced his name in the anime.

Kenpachi is one of the only reason I still read Bleach
I just love how he destroy those guys, who I didn't even bother to learn there names. But sadly he will job for the new bad guy, next time we see him.
Also why don't we know the main bad guy name yet?
Sometimes I wonder if Kubo is even inspired to create more chapters to Bleach. When Ichigo fought Aizen it really seemed like he wanted to move on.
about a year ago, I was wondering why there was so much hate for bleach saying it is garbage. now, in its final arc, I see why. this is quite a nadir for a franchise like this. I really wish Kubo stuck with the urban fantasy vibe he had for season 1 and built on that, it would've been a whole lot more interesting, even if it was a much shorter story.
I'm excited that the Captain Commander showed up. However, he had better over-kill "The Overkill" with his bare hands, or I will be really disappointed.
Another point (low or high, depending on your view) is that there are apparently 26 Sternritter soldiers (one for each letter of the alphabet). Even with the three that Kenpachi took out, this arc could easily last another year, unless Kenpachi can take out the head Quincy really quick (which he almost certainly won't).
Kenpachi is a beast... I hope he can take out that commander (even tho it might not happen) or kill his vice captain.. cause by the looks if it Quincys fear Bankai, yet Kenpachi doesn't even have one and his power alone surpasess a bankai.. and idk how strong Kenpachi is now since I haven't seen him real action yet...

That and the Bount were my least favorite arcs in the series. A smaller story about a boy and his friends who fights ghosts and save people from Hollows could be interesting but that arc was written just as poorly as the current stuff is. Sadly, that's the type of content that really needs strong writing and storytelling to be enjoyable and those are like the two thing Kubo is worst at.
