AV MOD MATERIAL: Quick Picks -- 6/11/13

We are a little behind on our (Not-So) Quick Picks lately but we still want to know what you want, what you got and what has made your wish list pile.

What do you think of our new banner?

Bigheart711's Pick

The pick for me this time will be K-On!: The Movie. I ended up loving the series after checking it out back when it first came out, but it has been long since the first time watching it. Now that the movie's out legally, I hope that I'll have fun with it just like I did with both seasons.

Graduation time is finally here, but the girls of the Sakuragaoka Girl's High Light Music Club aren't going to let the end of high school be the end of all they've built together. First though, they have to keep a promise to take a trip together, and like everything else they do, they're not doing it halfway. So it's time to hop on the bus - the double-decker bus that is - and go around the world as the band heads for the birthplace of the British Invasion: the United Kingdom!
On the way they're going to have to solve that one last big puzzle that's been vexing them: what to get for their underclassman rhythm guitarist Azusa, who will be taking over the club once they don their caps and gowns and leave Sakuragaoka for the last time. Get ready for a Magical Musical Tour as the whole gang takes in the sights and sounds of London and prepares for one last amazing encore!
Special Features: Interviews, K-ON's Anniversary, 1-2-3 K-ON!, Live Event, K-On in London, Trailer, Teaser.
Spoken Languages: English, Japanese, English subtitles.

Takashichea's Pick

I'm picking Natsuyuki Rendezvous. I got into the anime back in summer of 2012 when it was recommended by UsaChanMan. It's my first Josei romance series.

Hazuki may be near-sighted, but he knows true beauty when he sees it. The delicate form of flower shop owner Rokka draws him in like a bee to honey. Hoping to cultivate a relationship between them, Hazuki takes a part-time job at her shop only to discover two huge thorns preventing the nurturing of any romance. The first, the fact that Rokka is still grieving for her late husband Shimao, would be enough to snip most men's ardor short, but it's the second that really threatens to make Hazuki's forlorn hopes wilt. While Shimao is most definitely deceased, he hasn't yet departed, and his spirit is still living in Rokka's apartment!
Only Hazuki can see him, which leads to a very strange romantic triangle indeed. Are Hazuki's chances with Rokka as dead as the man who still lives in her house? Or can he somehow make love blossom even though there's an interloper pushing up the daisies between them? One way or another, the ground's going to be rocky and someone or something's likely to get nipped in the bud!
Contains episodes 1-11.
Special Features: Clean Opening Animation, Clean Closing Animation.
Spoken Languages: Japanese, English subtitles.

Sora_theKey's Pick

This is an easy pick. When it comes to anime I'm always going to be faithful to my first anime which is Digimon Adventure. If you haven't watched it, do it now. It's a great series for everyone... Right now, I'm just waiting for the Blu-Ray release.

Seven children from Japan are suddenly thrust into a strange dimension called the "Digital World" while they are at summer camp. During their adventure, children Tai, Matt, Sora, Izzy, Mimi, Joe, and T.K., discover that they are in a land where digital creatures called "Digimon" dwell. Befriending seven other Digimon, the children learn that they have the ability to help their partners digitally evolve (digivolve) into stronger, more powerful forms that can combat enemies for a short amount of time. Setting off on their journey, the children start searching for a way home.

Just as a note, we will be changing the format of the Quick Picks a little bit (that's why we have a new banner). Expect some changes.

What are your picks?

Colorful sounds and looks pretty original:

"I" died and was kicked out of the cycle of reincarnation because of the sin "I" committed. An angel told me that "I" won a lottery and he gave me a chance to remember the sin. My spirit possessed the body of the 14-year-old boy Makoto, who committed suicide and "I" tried to recollect my memory. "I" felt distressed by the terrible circumstances of Makoto and the fact that "I" was borrowing his body. "I" have started to realize that people are hurting each other because the world is too colorful to distinguish the true color of themselves from others.
Based on an award-wining first person narrative novel by Mori Eto. The movie won several awards in Japan.

Kids on the Slope and Time of Eve are both excellent. I think I wanted to cry a few times watching Time of Eve, the stories are just really great. I wrote a review of Time of Eve a long time ago, if you are thinking about watching it.
