AV MOD MATERIAL: Quick Picks -- 4/22/13

This week we've got action, adventure, and even romance. What will you pick?

Takashichea's Pick

"Beautiful yet manipulative women"
"Beautiful yet manipulative women"

My Quick Pick is Missions of Love since my little sister checked out the first volume from the library. The way she talked about the book remind me of Oreshura, Velvet Kiss, and Nozoki Ana who have beautiful yet manipulative women. These ladies really pushes the main protagonist over the edge. It all starts with them blackmail. I'm interested in reading the manga.

THREE'S A CROWD
Yupina's cell phone novel gains a major boost in popularity with the introduction of the typical love story trope–the love triangle. What does this mean for Yukina's real life? Her cousin Akira has confessed his undying love for her, and both she and Shigure become unsure of their true feelings.

Bigheart711's Pick

"A rather horrific experience"
"A rather horrific experience"

My pick this time happens to be The Flowers of Evil because it didn't take interest in me until when I dug into the synopsis and the fact that it obtained an anime series this season. It just got on my radar like a few others, but I have a feeling that this would be a rather horrific experience at the same time (assuming that it's a horror manga and the covers remind me of the ones for the harrowing horror manga, Arm of Kannon).

Bookworm Takao falls in love with Nanako, but he cannot express his feelings through words. Instead he secretively acts out in a heat of passion which creates a huge scandal in his school. There is one person who knows his true nature, and this girl will do anything to nurture what this Charles Baudelaire hides.

Sora_thekey's Pick

"Great critical reception intrigues me"
"Great critical reception intrigues me"

Hello everyone, long time no see! For this week I actually have two things I want to pick: About a week late, but I want to pick Tiger & Bunny's first manga volume. I have not watched the anime, but the great critical reception makes intrigues the inner mainstream otaku in me.

The official manga tie-in to the international smash-hit animated series!
Superpowered humans known as NEXT appeared in the world 45 years ago. Some of them fight crime in the city of Stern Bild while promoting their corporate sponsors on the hit show “HERO TV.” The people love their superheroes, even if they don’t completely understand them, and not all of the NEXT use their powers for good.
Veteran hero Wild Tiger has years of experience fighting crime, but his ratings have been slipping. Under orders from his new employer, Wild Tiger finds himself forced to team up with Barnaby Brooks Jr., a rookie with an attitude. Overcoming their differences will be at least as difficult for this mismatched duo as taking down superpowered bad guys!
"I&squot;ll say it again, this is a great anime!"
"I'll say it again, this is a great anime!"

The other thing I want to pick is the first and second DVD releases of A Certain Scientific Railgun. I've mentioned it before, and I'll say it again, this is a great anime! One that has it all and if you can overlook some comedic sexual vexation I'm sure everyone can find something to like about this anime.

Misaka's electro-manipulation abilities - and delightfully destructive Railgun projectile move - make her a rock star in Academy City. The techno-metropolis is packed with supernaturally powered students known as espers, including Misaka's flirty friend and roommate, Kuroko. She uses her teleportation skills as a member of the Judgment law enforcement team, fighting crime alongside her fellow agent Uiharu.
Joined by their friend Saten, a spunky Level 0 esper, Misaka, Kuroko, and Uiharu have a blast taking on danger whenever and wherever it arises. Luckily, in a city full of super-powered gangs, mad scientists, and the occasional weird monster, the girls have no problem finding plenty of excitement, action, and adventure!

I didn't mention it above but the inner comic book fan in me also wants to watch Iron Man: Rise of the Technovore... Does anyone know what the Summer Wars Re-Release is exactly?

Oh and to all of you who are fans of the OLD Candy Candy anime (like me), Hanasaku Iroha is a great, modern... "replacement" (with less crying). EDIT: Here's the article I wrote on the series back in 2011.

Flowers of Evil, one of the best anime this season!

Hanasaku Iroha, I LOVE THIS SHOW.

THAT IS ALL.

Just realized I haven't finished this anime... Should probably get to that!

Wait, the title says Spring 2013 OVA Preview. Isn't supposed to be Quick Picks?

I'm tempted to read Flowers of Evil manga than watch the anime, but I can't do that. I shouldn't judge an anime by its looks.

@takashichea: Haha! Didn't notice that!
