AV MOD MATERIAL: ONE PIECE Ch. 725 Review

Is Oda playing catch-up after his recent convalescence?

Did Rebecca's Haki see all this randomness coming?
Did Rebecca's Haki see all this randomness coming?

The wheels of chaos begin to spin ever faster on Dressrosa, but what is the dark mystery of the tournament that is buried deep blow?

The Good

Who is this mystery person?
Who is this mystery person?

Eiichiro Oda's more recent medical issues have been fairly well documented, and the series has had so many breaks this year. I have to imagine that this endangers the ONE PIECE publishing schedule of four volumes in a year. While reading this week's chapter, I couldn't help but notice that so much is going on that I'm left wondering if this is Oda trying to catch things up just a bit. It certainly makes it hard to review with the plethora of subplots dropping on nearly every page.

The only thing I can hope to do is narrow in on the questions this chapter raises for myself. Firstly, who is this person that would inspire such animus in Law for Doflamingo? Why does Violet shoot out the video of Rebecca's fight? Is Rebecca really an Observation Haki user?

The Bad

As many plots as there are people in this panel.
As many plots as there are people in this panel.

The biggest criticism of this chapter is its lack of focus. However, that doesn't mean what we see isn't entertaining. Oda's character humor makes even the most mundane moments smile-worthy. You're likely going to latch on to some subplot here. I just wonder where the next chapter will decide to focus on, or will it be as frantic as this week?

Verdict 3/5

For as much as I've criticized NARUTO and BLEACH recently for their slow pacing, ONE PIECE has a hard swing in the other direction. Don't be under the impression that I think this is a bad chapter. It's an entertaining read, but it lacks direction. As such, not a great deal is coming out of this issue. You're going to be left with more questions than answers.

I was thinking the person Law was talking about, might be Bepo. Doflamingo might have force Bepo to eat the prototype Smile Fruit, that turn him into a bear man. But that wouldn't make sense, because CC wasn't with Doflamingo back then. (Guess I have to wait and see)

Feel like Violet might be Rebecca's Auntie or something. Since she did destroy the tv for bad mouthing Rebecca and her and Rebecca's mother are name after colors.

Now I see why Doflamingo keep Rebecca live, he using her to make more money. The longer she is unharmed, people will keep coming back in hope she get injure or die. Also Doflamingo did make a good point with his screech

I like this chapter more then the other two, can't wait for next weeks one
