While General Franky holds off Baby 5 and Buffalo, Luffy waits for his crew before they hit the road and catch Caesar before he's spirited away. Elsewhere, Monet has a grim, final message for Doflamingo.
The Good
Pushing aside the fact that this arc has had a total of three harrowing leaps through gates. I enjoy the fact that Franky's battle with Buffalo and Baby 5 is in this fog of war. They don't even know what they're battling about or the motives of the other. It's absurd but plausible given how both parties aren't in the loop to current events. I didn't care much for Dolamingo's crew, but I got some laughs seeing the General Franky showcased more.
I don't believe for a second that Monet is really going to be sacrificing herself, or it would be more accurate to say that I don't want to believe that will happen. There are so many hints that her loyalties aren't as they seem, and she's a phenomenal liar. My money is on her just giving the impression that everyone is dead so Doflamingo wont be the wiser. Sort of what the Straw Hats tried to pull on Crocodile waaaaay back at the end of Little Garden. It's a great way to sneak up on someone later if they don't know you're alive.
The Bad
Well, here I was hoping that Luffy had finally such the trap of Caesar Clown, but he's awake yet again. Could he really escape with Smoker's disembodied heart, or will they catch him? What I'm confused about is that Smoker seems rather unconcerned. I wonder, did Law pull a fast one and that's not in fact Smoker's heart he holds in his hands?
Baby 5 continues to highlight the role of a negative icon. Not only does she do whatever anyone asks of her. Her devil fruit abilities render her practically useless unless she's being used by someone else. She's a character who's completely dependent on the power of others and a living tool. Not that the powers make for a bad show.
Verdict 4/4
Have you ever wished that you could just hit that switch in your mind that keeps you from believing anything could happen in fiction? It can be like trying to watch professional wrestling once you realize it's all scripted - - I didn't say fake. Stories could feel much more fun and dramatic if you weren't sure about the outcome 90% of the time. This chapter finale gives the impression that once Monet hits that button that everyone will die at once, but we know that's not going to happen. Meaning, she either doesn't press the button or it just fails to explode. However, I can admit that I'm still a bit worried about Monet's fate, so perhaps I'm not as cynical as I think.
Next week is the Christmas break. I'm not sure there will be a review up. On that same note, I'm also not even sure there will be a SHONEN JUMP published next week. That would make a review not only pointless but impossible. Happy Holidays, everyone.

Dude, Baby 5 can turn her body parts into weapons. Remember when she was fighting with Joker?
I like the fight with Franky and Baby 5 and Buffalo (when I saw that shield, I thought of captain america LOL!)
The heart CC have is Monet's heart, he going to crush it and stop Monet from blowing up the island
But I have a feeling that Monet is going to live from it and be the next cover page story, because it very rare that Oda kill off a character like Monet
I understood that Ceasar's dying and he's "taking" Smoker with him by killing him. And because of that I thought that Trafalgar tricked Ceasar and that's monet's heart (so she will die now and not kill everyone or anything like that).
@Destinyheroknight: I really don't see why she wouldn't die, as much as she seems like a cool character she's nobody
@Destinyheroknight:
The bit about the heart switch seems plausible, but Monet seems to be who's been helping Law from the shadows. With switching out his chains and giving Chopper the information he needed. I don't see why Law would put an ally in jeopardy like that.
From what Monet has said to Luffy. She doesn't seem to be following Doflamingo out of loyalty.
@ouchmydragonballs:
There is something so damn adorable about seeing Chopper on Law's hat.
Hmm Lets see i guess my theory would be of courselike all of you said that the heart cesar holds is not smoker's heart or they will reach CC in time to retrieve that heart.
Thoughts on Monet. i believe her loyalty lies with trafalger law. and yes i'm guessing she will pull a fast one on joker and make it seem like they are all dead this way even she can manage to stay off the radar. Btw hinting at doflamingo's past a bit by calling him young master??
And i personally just think baby 5 is like any other villian.shes under Joker's control just as much as any of joker's crew and she used that machine gun by herself so theres nothing really weak or sexist about it.
@tximinoman:
Well, the reason she wouldn't die is because Oda don't usually kill his characters
Also, he let Coribou live from being crush from the bottom of the sea (so there is a high chance she'll live)
@FoxxFireArt:
Well, I guess we find out next week who is right
DON'T DO IT MONET! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T DO IT! (Yeah I know what all of you are saying but I'm not taking any chances)
@Destinyheroknight:
I'm not sure there will be a chapter next week. If you look at the cover of this week's SHONEN JUMP. It's labels as No. 4-5. That normally means there is a holiday break.
