AV MOD MATERIAL: ONE PIECE Ch. 692 Review

Looks as if there still a little more fight left in this arc.

I'm a bit curious what's happening as well.
I'm a bit curious what's happening as well.

Luffy crushes the dreams of Caesar Clown, along with nearly every bone in his sternum; but the crew still needs to escape with the kids before they're all overcome by the shinokuni gas. Unfortunately, Law's plan to capture the mad scientist may be ruined ifDoflamingo's killers, Baby 5 and Buffalo get him first. Thanks goodness Franky seems to have thought ahead.

The Good

An attack so powerful it took four pages to display.
An attack so powerful it took four pages to display.

"Luffy's got a magnum in his pocket. He's gonna pull it out, and finally shut Caesar Clown's fat-ass mouth." I'm not so bold as to assume any rhyme I could come up with could ever hold a candle to the Otaku King, Richie Branson; but I felt that Luffy's latest attack the Grizzly Magnum required a bit more flourish than usual. The fall out of this blew away any expectation I had. It reminded me of one of those climax scenes you'll often see in action movies where they repeat the scene several times from different angles for dramatic effect. We aren't the only ones watching this display of power. Much of the New World's underground were witness to this pwnage.

As everyone is gathering together for the grand escape, Luffy's passion may have backfired since two of Doflamingo's crew have arrived. I'm impressed that Franky thought to pull out the General Franky. Baby 5's body is made of weapons, and Franky is also covered in weaponry. The villains of the arc have proven to be largely ineffective. This coming fight looks to be a balanced match, but how formidable is a person who would do anything you ask?

The Bad

This kid is the worst secret keeper ever.
This kid is the worst secret keeper ever.

One of the most undeveloped subplots of this arc has to be the story of Kinemon's search to find his son. It's yet to add anything to the story, but him getting caught in the gas should serve as a test subject for Chopper to pull out an inevitable antidote. All this concern about Kinemon is nice and all, but....what about Monet? I'm a bit concerned that Law hasn't noticed her absence, but I guess Odadoesn't want to tip his hand about the depth her involvement yet.

People often rail against the role women play in shonen manga. When it comes to Baby 5. I agree to a point. She has to be an example of one of the worst stereotypes. She's a woman who does whatever people ask of her out of some misplaced sense of being needed by others. However, much like Archie Bunker she's not intended to be a positive role model. She's a villain, and you're suppose to think poorly of her behavior. In balance you have Nico Robin, an intelligent, lovey scholar who is the most mature and classy member of the Straw Hats.

Verdict 5/5

Just follow the stench of failure, and you'll eventually find Caesar.
Just follow the stench of failure, and you'll eventually find Caesar.

It's been another in the run of entertaining chapters that have followed these past few weeks. It makes me wonder how long this streak can last. With Luffy and Law both pulling out literal earth-shaking attacks, how could anything that follows in this arc expect to equal or surpass in Franky's coming match up? But I can't hold that against this chapter. I cheered, I laughed, and I had fun.

In case you were curious. I've confirmed that the Punk Hazard arc wont begin in the anime series until the first week of January. As the manga version is closing up. The anime version is beginning. 2013 is looking to be a great year for ONE PIECE fans.

Is it weird that i completely forgot Franky has not shown up at all until this point?
Destinyheroknighton Dec. 13, 2012 at 2:09 p.m.

Awesome, Franky here :)

But I doubt we will get a fight between Baby 5 and him. I have a feeling that Sanji will meet Baby 5

I think Baby 5 will probably have hide personality that she not showing

I love how CC try to weasel himself out of it

Look like I was wrong about the move :(

I really do hope that Monet is alive (she probably is)

I guess we either go to Dressrosa or to a different island after this

Okay I'm going to ask this again, and again and again till I get an answer...Where the hell is Law's Crew? Remember Bepo the martial artist polar bear that wore a jump suit, remember the yellow sub marine? Where is all this if Law has been trapped on this island with Ceasar where is his crew?

Has anyone notice that in the last two arcs Luffy has demonstrated two new moves to finish off the big bad. Both have one thing in common they reference a gun specifically revolvers. Red Hawk the move that is suppose to be some sort of tribute to Ace ,though I don't understand the way it conjured fire, Red Hawk is type of revolver and now Grizzly Magnum another reference to a gun.

@dtolson:

Nope, I had forgotten about his, as well.

@Lobos_Del_Rayo:

There were some Warlords that had to give up their crew to join.

Luffy generated fire for Red Hawk by activating his armament hardening then sear second.

@Destinyheroknight:

It was funny to see Caesar think letting Luffy join him would save him.

Lobos_Del_Rayoon Dec. 16, 2012 at 11:51 a.m.

@FoxxFireArt: So Law had to give up his Crew to become a warlord that kinda sucks :P So activate armament then gear second created fire. I guess that makes sense.

@Lobos_Del_Rayo:

We don't know that for sure, but I remember that Jimbei had to give up his crew. Though, Boa Hancock, Gecko Moria, Blackbeard, and Doflamingo had crew. It could just be that the Heart Pirates are waiting somewhere else.

Well, remember when Luffy activates Gear Second that his skin glows red and steam comes form his body. Adding armament hardening surely adds more to it. The steam can't escape, and the heat builds until it can't contain it any longer. He doesn't burn becasue his skin is hardened during the attack. At least, that's my reasoning.

I agree about baby 5. I am confused about her loyalty because it is so shallow. Is she in love with Ceaser?

Lobos_Del_Rayoon Dec. 18, 2012 at 6:07 a.m.

@FoxxFireArt: Originally I thought that maybe Ceasar had them held up somewhere but Law doesn't seem like he trying to free them he hasn't even mention them. So I'm guessing they are just waiting somewhere because Law seems to the kind of pirate who like Luffy cares for his crew so I don't think he would abandon them just like that. Then again throughout this arc I been calling in question Law's true motives and I still think there is something he is planning.

Actually that makes a lot of sense and sounds really cool.

So if Doflamingo will be the villain of the next arc, which it seems likely, then he better be pretty powerful because the straw hats have been running a train over anyone who gets in their way, Fishman Pirates, Dragons, Ceaser, Hody, etc.
