With the Trio-Summoning completed, the revived Team 7 makes preparation to finally end this war.
I know that this is still technically the "Ten-Tails Revival Arc", but the change over from the Fourth Shinobi World War Arc was so seamless as to be nonexistent. This war started over two years ago. It's been going on for far too long, Finally, we're starting to see some glimmer on the horizon that the story can start to move on. At least I hope that's what it is.
The biggest highlight of the week is the art work on these pages. It isn't even a contest. Each panel has great detail. You can really see that Kishimoto must have really put his all into this one. That needs to be appreciated more. Especially when you consider the tight timeline manga artists must be on for weekly series.
The whole scene of Naruto and Sasuke combining attacks seems to be designed to inspire cheers, but it felt incredibly corny. Everything is well drawn, but just think about this. Naruto and Sasuke haven't been together for more than a few minutes at a time since the two year time skip. Yet somehow they're able to anticipate and perfectly combine their attacks with zero communication. Seriously?
Sakura also fell back into her usual pattern this week. She basically gets one chapter to steal the spotlight, then she stands behind the boys. Sure, she's doing a very important task in helping heal the wounds of the Shinobi Alliance. It just sort of destroys her admirable resolve to standing with them in the fight. Why spend the energy healing the scratches of those who aren't going to be involved in finishing this battle? She's not the only medical ninja on the battlefield.
Sasuke's presence in this chapter set aside, this was a mostly enjoyable edition to read. It was certainly visually appealing on all counts, but the events got way too Kumbaya for my liking. I just couldn't get over the awkwardness of the combining attacks moment. Why is it that it's Naruto's technique that's boosting Sasuke's instead of the other way around? Who's the real protagonist of this series anyway?
