Asuka Langley Soryuu, the half-German, half-Japanese pilotess, has earned a new name: Asuka Langley Shikinami.
Now, what does this mean? It might mean that she'll have a somewhat different personality. Or it could mean that her backstory has changed (but her persona generally hasn't). Or, if the second film isn't turning out as differently as expected, it could be an attempt to just change something.

do you think? Could you handle a substantially different Asuka? I guess we'll have to wait and see if Asuka Langley Shikinami should be an alias or an entirely new character page...
I can still hear Misato's voice in my head introducing her.
And I don't think her personality will be radically different, fan-outcry could be deafening in such a situation.
But what does that have to do with changing her name? We knew she was in it from the trailer, how does changing her name print more money?
Because they change the name means they are probably make a big deal out of it. Something Asuka related is coming other wise there be no reason to change her name.
