Anime Network Streams Straight to the iPhone

iLove this idea

Deciding that being able to merely buy episodes on iTunes wasn't enough, the Anime Network just revealed that you can stream content directly onto your iPhone. This is, of course, provided you can find 3G or acceptable WiFi to support it.

At least, that's how I think it works. I don't possess one of "those" things, nor the requisite iTunes to access them. But you can. Check it out here.

That said, if its just that simple, it really could boost how much more value you could get out of your subscription fees.

UPDATE: Added in the e-mail announcement I just got via e-mail. -gia

Haa....android version, anyone? :D

@gia: There should already be an Android version of the streaming app, since I remember it being announced last year.

You can buy episodes from the Anime Network for $2 each on the Droid.   Don't know if it's legit.   Or you can rip them to mp4 format from your DVDs and just copy them over and watch them using Act 1 Video.  Sadly, the anime you can buy is for example Saiyuki 1; I've not seen anything remotely new.  I mean, no one is going to pay $2 an ep to watch Saiyuki at this point, right?

@HSaabedra: Then all I need is an android phone!

@HSaabedra: I'm pretty sure they're making more than one ;) Besides, I still have to wait until spring to get mine.

Hmm, sad, but unsurprising. They're slowly veining in a nice back catelog (Utena anyone?), but since they pick up Section 23 releases, its not like they get the same kind of flow, plus I question of the sub only series are as viable on screens those size.

@John_Martone: I ripped Planetes to mp4 for my husband to watch, with subs, and they looked fine.  But with the wrong font and color it could be tough.   I can also read manga on the Droid with a full page on the screen, so long as it's normal sized font.

I'm just waiting for CrunchyRoll to get an app so I can watch my CR anime that way. ^__^

Whoa, $6.99? I think I'll pass just for now.
