Angels Invade Tokyo; EVA Invades Theaters

Eva 1.0 on the big screen? Yes please!

Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone is starting to hit a few theaters in the US and Canada. FUNimation has a complete list of screenings, including Anime Expo's, a newly-added one in Seattle from the 3rd to the 9th, the Alamo Drafthouse in Houston, and, on September 30th, a LOT of theaters in Canada.

So far we haven't seen anything like the Canada run for the US, but people in LA, Seattle, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego/Riverside, and Boston will all get their chances to see the flick on the big screen.

Hmm...I'm already probably going to Seattle on July 10th for Blood: The Last Vampire (unless a Portland screen is added); maybe I'll head up July 9th and stay overnight so I can see Eva, too. Time to look up the hostels...

How about you folks? How many of you are going to get to see it in theaters? How many of you will spew out righteous fury until a theater closer to you opens up?

So, why does America only get 10 showing?
lanaswifton June 13, 2009 at 11:23 a.m.
@Niko: Because we suck.

I might have went to see it if it was actually playing somewhere in NY.
giaon June 13, 2009 at 11:47 a.m.
@Chibi_Kaji: It still might; I'm sure FUNimation is still working on more release stuff.

You're not going to see it at AX :)?

I'll peg the Imaginasian in NYC as a likely destination, since they've screened films distributed by both FUNi and Eleven Arts (distributor of the Eva 1.0) in the past. IFC and Landmark Sunshine are also some possibilities. I'd like to believe that negotiations with NYC theater owners are ongoing.
