An Intriguing Survey from FUNimation

Hints at future FUNimation licenses? Maybe...

FUNimation
has just posted a new survey to its blog, asking about peoples' interest in various spring shows. (They neglected to mention us *sniffle*, but if you want information on the titles listed, you should check them out all in one handy-dandy place-- our spring preview!)

Anyway! A healthy handful of shows from the current season are mentioned, but of course this doesn't mean that FUNimation is going to license all of them, or even that they *could* license all of them-- I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if some of these titles were red herrings to throw us off. (Hayate the Combat Butler's first season is already licensed by Bandai, meaning that they probably have first dibs-- but boy, if not, that'd be a surprising switcheroo.)

Of the titles mentioned, the ones I'll jump at so far are Eden of the East, Hayate, and possibly Cross Game-- though I'm so behind on watching the new season! What about you-- which would you purchase? And which do you think FUNi will actually pick up?

Only one major problem with their survey. The missed quite a few series: K-ON, Saki, Natsu no Arashi, Shin Mazinger, Asura Cryin’, and a few others.

I just watch 2 episode of Eden of the East and I already like it. If FUNi license it, I miss the sweet Oasis intro.

Let's see...for sure Eden of the East, definitely would like to see that licensed. Pandora Hearts, yes! ...aaannnddd Sengoku Basara!!!

LOL Agent_Lost, right on with that comment.

I think the selection of the shows is an indicator of who they are in talks with, or potentially. No Kadokawa titles in there right? ;)

On that note, I totally will buy Hatsukoi Limited.

I voted for East of Eden, Guin Saga [liked the manga], Shrangrilaand Tears to Tiara as stuff I'm most likely to buy, and added 07-Ghost as one I'd rec to friends along with those [not sure if I'd get it, but I imagine it'll be quite popular with some of my fangirl friends]. With Shrangri-La, it's more or less a done deal as it's Gonzo, but I'd really love if they tried doing a simultaneous DVD release if it were done as singles.

(Troll logic is troll-ish, but whatever...)
That survey lacks Zetsubou, therefore it is flawed.

WillyFourEyes: Excellent point, my good sir.

No Mazinger either? This list is indeed flawed.
paplooon April 21, 2009 at 7:05 p.m.
I wonder if that's more of an indication that these are licenses they are more likely to pick up than stuff not listed? Or it could be stuff not listed might already be spoken for by other companies [Con Season is right around the corner, and both Media Blasters John Sirabella and ADV via con chattering have hinted they've been shopping at the AnimeonDVD forums]. So much to consider....

Awww... I didn't create the survey.  Sorry. =/
I'll make it up to you somehow.
HeeroYuyon April 22, 2009 at 1:42 p.m.
Sooo.... no K-on..... wow... *status effect: Heero loses 80% of his interest*

Of the rest, the only two that I'm even bothering to keep up with at the moment are Eden of the East and Sengoku Basara...which is basically Warring States Gurren Lagann... (aka Dynasty Warriors: The anime, lol)
Kuroon April 22, 2009 at 5:59 p.m.
I nominated Shangri La and Eden of the East.

ON COMMENTS, I said, OH AND ZETSUBOU :/

I would love to see Eden of the East and Cross Game get a US release. I just hope they don't butcher either with a terrible dub.

Bump to unstick this. I am a part of the NPD Group.
