It is not everyday that you get to watch an American made Tokusatsu show, well to clarify, an American made Tokusatsu show that is pretending to be a Japanese Tokusatsu show. What is Tokusatsu you might ask? Well, it is a live-action show that’s main focus is special effects, most notable are Kamen Rider, Sentai, and Kaiju TV shows and films. Shoko Nakagawa, or Shokotan to the rest of us decided one day to create a super hero called Sukashi. Now she decided to take this character to America, and make a live-action show based off this character.
She was not alone in making this video, for she had help from Doug TenNapel, who also was the creator of Earthworm Jim. I’m assuming these shorts will all be released on her website, along with on YouTube as well. So go on and watch this hallucinating super hero do his thing. But what I want to know is if he is a loner like Kamen Rider, or part of a Super Sentai team? He is wearing red after all.
" @Niko: well wasn't Japan technically part of America 10 billion years ago? "
Sorry friend but Earth has supposedly only been around for 4.5 billion years (although the oldest rock from Earth to date was found in the Canadian Shield by McGill University is about 4 billion years using Uranium/Lead dating) if you mean one of the supercontinents that have formed many times in the past. I presume Pangaea in particular in, which case you're looking at around the Permian period of the Paleozoic era or roughly 250 million years ago.
But hey don't fret in another 250 million years or so it may happen again with the possible creation of either Amasia or Pangaea Ultima to go along with the cyclical nature of the formation of supercontinents. Now all you have to do is find a way to preserve your conciousness in a ROM à la The Dixie Flatline from Neuromancer and than find a way of downloading yourself into some android or something when the technology arrives or just gain immortality.
@Kelleth: Really? I think that's part of the charm. Plus, Shokotan is a sentai fan, so it's not surprising she would base a hero off on one of them. It's like when we were kids and made new characters out of old action figures.
@Kelleth: I don't think it would be quite as funny to me if it were an original outfit. Particularly in this video with the guy basically just playing dress up.
@Kelleth: The costume was custom made for the actor based on Shoko's character design. The fact that it looks like a power ranger must have some intentional purpose.

I think it needed to look something like the Banzai flag, Which is awesome lol
