The Final Fantasy franchise encompasses a number of video games, manga, movies and anime from the Final Fantasy universe. The franchise was created by Squaresoft (now Square Enix). At the time, Square was on its last legs, and considered the first game their "Final Fantasy" of success.

I've seen some fan-frickin-tastic cosplay over the decade, but this Kaname fella just knocks it out of the park; the perfect marriage between a character and a cosplayer. I mean, folks like he were given the just the right genes to bring these animated characters to life. I'd really like to see this guy stand alongside that incredibly awesome Aerith cosplayer I saw at AX so many years ago.
