Somehow, I haven’t actually seen “K. Stew” in any movie since the time she played Jodie Foster’s daughter in PANIC ROOM. I liked her well enough in that, but I’ve managed not to see any of the TWILIGHT movies, so I don’t have the same kind of… associations that most of you lunatics have, so I’m just going to present you the facts without any commentary.
/Film says she’s been approached to play Kei (or whatever the character’s been renamed) in the live-action remake of AKIRA that Jaume Collet-Serra’s putting together. Apparently, Keira Knightly’s also been offered the same role but, since we don’t have any official announcements here, there’s no indiction of whether she’s turned IT down already or if she’s still mulling it over.
In other East-to-West adaptation news, Joblo’s says that Colin Firth (most recently of KING'S SPEECH) has been offered the part of Adrian in Spike Lee’s remake of OLD BOY. “Adrian” was once “Lee Woo-jin” in the manhwa, so Firth would be playing heel to Josh Brolin’s titular avenger. Park Chan-wook’s live-action adaptation has seemingly eclipsed the comic as the origin point for this story in the eyes of many, so it isn’t discussed as often in these circles. Still, I suppose now is just as good a time as any to ask you lunatics for your opinions on this remake. Do you approve of it? Do you approve of Firth?

Burn them! Kill them and Burn them with fire, Death to Warner Bros!!!!
Colin Firth is an awesome addition
Geez, the girl from Twilight is like the worst actor/actress in the entire movie, and that's saying ALOT. I'd go as far as to call her a scene ruiner, and she's acting beside people constantly dropping Attack of the Clones Anakin quality lines left and right.
It's like Hollywood doesn't want any fans of the original to see this. This is an upsetting rumor.
On the slip side, I give Firth a thumbs up even though I don't know what Old Boy is.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! D:
Someone had to do this, surprised it took this long for it to happen....
Never mind cast updates, just that this project is still underway is sad.
After seeing the Screened Twilight catch up video, she will probably won't close her mouth. oh and this:
NO. OH GOD NO. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
She would be great for the role because um..... -_-
Just putting it out there because I think people are unfairly viewing Kristen Stewart as "the Twilight girl," she was surprisingly acceptable in The Runaways. Not great...and in fact she gets overshadowed by Dakota Fanning's performance in that movie but she was acceptable.
I mean come on you could call Natalie Portman "Padame" as much as you want because of how terrible her performance was in the Star Wars prequels but even she went on to do Black Swan.
I've seen 6 films with her (none of them were Twilight) and from that i can conclude she's not that bad of an actress, range is not her strong point but i've seen much worse...

Are you kidding? Old boy is just one of the best if not the best "manga to film" i've ever seen, you should watch it immediately :P
Colin Firth is a good choice i guess, i still don't see the point in remaking such a great film but oh well...
Oh, heck NO!!!
.... I'll only wait for the eventual Japanese-made adaptation. Heck, the lie Yatterman, Casshern and GTO for example have all been amazing so far..
OK time for me to send that anthrax I have been horading to Warner Brothers....they must really not know their market at all. If they think Akira can be of interest to the twilight crowd they must be planing on doing some terrible changes to it...sigh.
Hopefully we get a new George Takei rant video out of this. Please, nobody see this. This is a crime.
I'm going to be honest here, when i was a freshman, i saw this girl in the movie version of Speak and thought she was a pretty good actress. She successfully managed to portray the emotional deadness of a depressed teenage girl in a way that would have earned my sympathy even if I hadn't already read the book and therefore knew why she was so depressed... Then i saw Twilight and realized that she wasn't trying to be emotionally dead in Speak, she was acting emotionally dead because she just CAN'T ACT.
So please, keep her the hell away from this movie.
