2 Minute Long Trailer of Assault Girls Assaulting

Bullets and babes oh my!

When you tell me a movie is almost entirely consists of hot girl, guns, and vaguely tentacle like monsters, my mind goes somewhere else. However, that's exactly what you get Mamoru Oshii's upcoming Assault Girls. Now that we have something longer to view, I think I'm becoming slightly less opposed to the idea of seeing this... though its no Robo Geisha.

This looks vaguely like Mamoru Oshii is trying to do Tremors with more girls with guns.

Then again, last I checked I remember hearing (from Justin Sevakis, at least) that Oshii's live-action directing skills weren't the greatest. Although if it was animated then he'd be completely contradicting part of the message he sent in Sky Crawlers, instead of just making a weird juxtaposition.

I enjoyed quite a bit of Oshii's Avalon; I liked the ideas behind the world,  how some of the CG was done and great score. This trailer for Assault Girls, however, has dialed down my enthusiasm a bit. Maybe it's the way it was cut. There just seems to be a lot of "posedowns" by the actresses before and after the "badass" moves they pull off. In an animation or a manga, that wouldn't seem out of place. But in a live-action film it feels very jarring. I'm willing to give it chance though, so we'll see.
