Simon focuses on Nia and is able to determine her location, and then tells the Dai Gurren-dan that they can't lose. They transport and find Nia dangling in space, and she's glad that Simon came but tells him that the Anti-Spirals are stronger than he thinks. Simon says he'll win anyway, and the Anti-Spirals begin a seemingly painful investigation of Nia to learn more about the humans who are attacking them. It turns out that this Nia is just an image, not the real Nia, so Simon focuses again and they teleport once more.
This attempt fails; the image of Nia is interfering with Simon's ability to focus on the real her and this world is manipulated entirely by Anti-Spirals. As a result, the Dai Gurren-dan's enemy is the space itself. A voice of the Anti-Spirals mocks them for having hope, and the battle begins. Simon sends out all of the Gurren-dan's ganmen, some of which have been increased in size thanks to the Arc-Gurren's production capabilities.
At first they lose easily, and then Simon unites with the Arc-Gurren to use its enormous drills. While he's powering it up, several members of the Dai Gurren-dan die. As Simon finishes powering up the Arc-Gurren, they all realize that it was a trap as a gravitational pull drags the thing into a strange ocean.
