Live-Action Eva Drama Not a Joke?

On April Fools Day, Yahoo! Japan offered up a “trailer” for a purported live-action Evangelion drama it would stream, which everyone laughed off as definitely a joke for the ages. Including myself.

But the joke didn't end on April Fools Day, and a poll to determine Japan's dream cast for such a series is currently online, according to Zepy. Although there is one difference now: TV Asahi is making the drama, not Yahoo!. And they say that they'll cast the series based on the results of the poll. Wow. Those results include actress Erika Toda as Asuka, by the way.

That said, Zepy notes that it's really just a promo for Evangelion 2.0, so it's almost certainly not a full-on drama, but even a short one-shot would be more live-action than Evangelion's seen ever...not including some very clever fan-made trailers. Which, for a lark, I've included a couple of here.

But ADV is already going to make a live-action Eva film!

Seriously, it should be coming out any day now.... (>_>)

It would not be ... financially viable for ADV right now. They're kind of 'recovering' and trying to reform.

Hopefully one day though, let's not give up our hope, just put it aside for now.

A live-action Eva movie can only work if it's directed by Anno himself, otherwise it'll suck.
