Misato Katsuragi is the chief tactical officer at NERV's Japan Branch in Tokyo-3, and Shinji Ikari's self-appointed guardian. She's the only survivor of the Second Impact. She aims to defeat the Angels and save humanity.

Ritsuko's mother and creator of the MAGI computer system. She was in love with Gendo but discovered she was being used by him. She died after killing Rei 1 but her cause of death was never revealed.

Pen-Pen is a warm region penguin and pet of Misato Katsuragi.

Though a triple agent who works for Seele, Nerv, and the Japanese Ministry of the Interior, Kaji states that his real mission is to find the truth. In college, he had an intimate relationship with Misato and is still quite a ladies' man. Asuka is deeply infatuated with him.

Sachiel is the third Angel and the first one to attack Tokyo 3 in Neon Genesis Evangelion

The tenth angel, it drops itself onto Tokyo 3 in a massive kamikaze attack in an attempt to destroy it.

The fourth angel and the second to attack Tokyo 3 a mere three weeks after Sachiel's attack

Shigeru Aoba is a member of the staff of the NERV center.

Touji Suzuhara is a classmate of Shinji Ikari that hated him at first for being an Eva Pilot. He was then selected as the pilot of Eva Unit-03.

Shinji Ikari's late mother and the wife of Gendo Ikari. Yui died in 2004 as a result of her Contact Experiment with Eva-01, but lives as a soul within the Eva as eternal proof of humanity's existence.

The Fourteenth Angel and the most powerful in the series. In Evangelion 2.0 Zeruel is designated as the 10th Angel.
