There still doesn’t seem to be a ton of sense in doing a four-part, back-to-back movie series where the installments are released with years-long breaks in between. Granted, a lot of this is a result of unexpected delays and whatnot, but it was a still a uniquely uncertain situation to walk out of EVANGELION 2.0 and be told that movie #3 would be coming out sometime eventually instead of getting some firm date or even a general release window.

Nevertheless, 3.0 YOU CAN (NOT) REDO is supposed to be out this fall in Japan (with an American presumably following soon after) and an official EVANGELION smartphone is being made available in anticipation of that.

ANN has got the details on the doohickey, which boasts…

• An interface that makes you feel like you’re piloting an EVA.
• A mini-game that lets you feel like you’re fighting the 8th evil alien angel with that EVA.
• A custom panel cover to make you feels like this has been issued to you by NERV.
• A two-minute-long 3D EVANGELION video to break the illusion a little, perhaps.

But you have to drink orange pop while you use it or it won't work. Y'know, adds to the authenticity.

So does it cost thousands of dollars? There was an eva phone once that cost like 5,000 dollars once I believe...and it sold out in a week. The japanese are truly crazy in many ways.

If i had to have a phone with smarts i think that is the one i would want.But no coverage where i am at means no need :/
