Mana Kirishima is originally from the videogame Shinseiki Evangelion: Koutetsu no Girlfriend. She later appears in the manga Shinj Ikari Raising Project.

Maya is a computer technician who works in Nerv's HQ.

Misato Katsuragi is the chief tactical officer at NERV's Japan Branch in Tokyo-3, and Shinji Ikari's self-appointed guardian. She's the only survivor of the Second Impact. She aims to defeat the Angels and save humanity.

Rei Ayanami is the enigmatic first child and the pilot of Eva Unit 00. She also shares a small relationship with Shinji

Ritsuko is the lead scientist of NERV. A fake blond, and college friend of Misato Katsuragi and Kaji. She followed the path of her mother. In both science and lovers.

Though a triple agent who works for Seele, Nerv, and the Japanese Ministry of the Interior, Kaji states that his real mission is to find the truth. In college, he had an intimate relationship with Misato and is still quite a ladies' man. Asuka is deeply infatuated with him.

Shigeru Aoba is a member of the staff of the NERV center.

The protagonist of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Pilot of Eva Unit-01. Has a distance personalty and is unable to express his true feelings around his fellow peers. He only accepts orders to prevent from being alienated. The son of NERV commander Gendo Ikari and late mother Yui Ikari.

Touji Suzuhara is a classmate of Shinji Ikari that hated him at first for being an Eva Pilot. He was then selected as the pilot of Eva Unit-03.

Shinji Ikari's late mother and the wife of Gendo Ikari. Yui died in 2004 as a result of her Contact Experiment with Eva-01, but lives as a soul within the Eva as eternal proof of humanity's existence.

The Fourteenth Angel and the most powerful in the series. In Evangelion 2.0 Zeruel is designated as the 10th Angel.
