Models

Models are known in Japan as Idols. They are young female models who appear in magazines and advertising. They can often be the public faces for companies.

Moronic character

The kind of character always gets into trouble by his or her bad luck, silliness, and/or cluelessness. A common source of comedy.

Ninjas

A ninja is a (typically Japanese) warrior, trained in martial arts fighting styles, and whom typically specializes in stealthy tactics and unorthodox arts of war.

Parody is a style of work that closely resembles or mocks preexisting material or genres for comedic effect.

The act of controling an individual, making him preform actions at your will.

Potential Love Interest

The character has a chance of ending up with the protagonist. It means either the protagonist or the heroine(or maybe both) have feelings for the other.

Protagonist

The main character of a story or plot. Most forms of fiction have the protagonist as a hero but there are rare occasions with an evil or not-so-noble protagonist.

Rivals

Rivals are competitor to someone. Unlike an enemy, rivals could have similar goals but disagree on the process.

Robot Girl

Mechanical or electronic automatons that have identifiable female characteristics. They may or may not behave with human-like emotion.

Romantic Drama

Romantic Drama is a concept used in series to create tensions of highs and lows in order to leave the audience in suspense over an outcome in a romance based series.

Science Fiction & Robots

A popular genre of anime and manga featuring advanced science often in a futuristic setting. Giant fighting mechs are particularly popular.

Science!

Sometimes the pursuit of scientific knowledge goes far beyond what is accepted in polite society. When normal Science can't get the job done, we turn to "Science!" and the perverse minds that practice it.

People who through a great pursuit of knowledge tends to make the impossible possible.

Secret Identity

A secret identity is an element of fiction wherein a character develops a separate persona, while keeping their true identity hidden. The character also may wear a disguise. A character may have several types of secret identities simultaneously.

Shyness

When one character has trouble expressing themselves and is very reserved. Usually used in Anime as an endearing quality.

Literally means "boy" in Japanese, but is also used to refer to Japan's biggest manga demographic: pre-teen and teenage boys.

Female members of a family that share the same parents.

A person who smokes tobacco.

A common theme in many mangas and animes.

A Student is one who is enrolled or attends classes at a school, college, or university. A popular theme among many manga and animes.

Usually special animals that have the ability to speak to humans. Talking animals are a big part in several animes and mangas

Teachers

A Teacher is a type of person who is in charge of educating others in some form of higher learning or skill. The Japanese title is "Sensei".

Transformation

The Idea of a character transforming into a animal, monster, creature, demon, or other types of creatures.

Twins

Twins are children who are born on the same day from the same mother. Though not always identical.

Unrequited love

A passion or romance for a person where these feelings are not returned by the object of affection. A one-sided love.

Vampires

Blood sucking creatures of the night, although not always evil necessarily. They are a staple of countless anime and manga series.

Wash Basin Drop

The Wash Basin Drop is a popular sight gag found in Japanese comedy. Where a wash basin falls on the head of an unsuspecting person, but not seriously harmed.

Whipping Boy/Girl

A form of comic relief in which a character is either defeated, destroyed or simply beaten throughout a series usually in humiliating way. After their defeat they usually reappear in much the same condition before the fight at least physically.

Zettai Ryouiki

Literally meaning "Absolute Territory", zettai ryouiki is the area of uncovered thigh between the skirt and the knee sock.

Zombies

Zombies are an undead rotting corpse that is alive yet dead and have voracious appetites for living flesh.
