Bathing Scenes, while occasionally meaningful to plot or character development, are generally excuses for fan service. |

Big Boobs
What is anime without the over-sexualization of women's breasts? |

|
Brother and Sister
A male and a female member of a family that share the same parents. |
|
|
Childhood Friend
The character has known the protagonist for a long time, typically all his/her life. If he/she's from the opposite gender there's a high chance he/she has a crush on the main character. |

|
Child Teacher
Child Teachers are theme in some manga/animes. They are normally rather intelligent characters who still display childish behavior at times. |
|
|
Class Representative
The Class Representative is the person who is appointed as the spokesperson for a classroom in certain school committees. They also enforce the rules amongst the students in class. |

|
Comedy
Nearly every anime has a comedic moment here or there. Everyone likes to laugh. |
|
|
Convenient Censorship
Convenient Censorship such as steam, hair and beams of light are often used in anime and manga to show naked characters while obscuring their "naughty bits". |

|
Cosplay
The practice of dressing like characters from anime, manga, video games, and even novels, TV shows, celebrities, etc. |
|
|
Dark Magical Girl
Dark Magical Girls are female characters that practice the dark form of magical arts. |
|
|
Drama
Drama is a concept used in story telling to invoke an emotional reaction from the audience by using serious themes; such as tragedy, suspense, and death. |

|
Dreams & Nightmares
The imaginary events that goes on in your head when you are asleep. In some anime's they can bring important messages or to haunt a person. |
|
|
Fan Service
Fan Service is often a sexually provocative moment or pose that takes place in manga and anime. It usually has no real purpose to a story, and serves as a lurid visual. |
|
|
Female Ninjas
A Female Ninja in Japanese is referred to as a kunoichi. They were given special training that took advantage of a woman's natural gifts. |
|
|
Fighters
The character knows well how to defend him or herself. |
|
|
Flashback
Used frequently in Anime to either recap past events or provide a back story for a character, either their origin story or their off-screen training of new attack. Sometime and entire episode/chapter would be a entire flashback. |

|
Gainax Bounce
The "Gainax Bounce" refers to breasts bouncing around gratuitously in anime, often in ways that seem to defy physics. |
|
|
Genki
A kind of character who's full of energy. He or she can't stop doing something and almost always seems happy. |
|
|
Genki Girl
An energetic, eccentric character type. But that generaly just doesn't cover it at all. It's like the whole world has an energy leakage from them. |
|
|
Ghosts
A ghost is a dead persons spirit that roams the earth usually attached to where they died or refusing to go to the after life until there are finished on earth. |
|
|
Harem
The term "harem" is frequently used to describe manga and anime series that feature one man surrounded by a variety of female romantic candidates. |
|
|
Kuudere
A character, often cold and harsh on the outside; but swirling with feelings inside. Much like an igloo, they keep an ice-cold wall, in an ice-cold world; just to protect the warmth inside. |
|
|
Lecher
Characters who exercise their strong libidinous desires in unwholesome ways, such as peeping on the objects of their desire, making inappropriate comments, stealing underwear etc. Though typically middle-aged or elderly men with a penchant for young girls, there are probably a few dirty old women out there. |

|
Lustful Drooling
Whether in a state of mere arousal or pure orgasmic bliss, many female characters in modern hentai have a difficult time keeping their saliva under control. |
|
|
Magic
Magic is an often used term in fiction. It is the concept of affecting the universe through supernatural methods and breaking the physical laws. |
|
|
Magical boy
The male counterpart of the magical girl. |
|
|
Magical Girl
A fantasy sub-genre that features girls who magically transform into super-heroines and combat evil. |
|
|
Manga Iconography
Common visual conventions seen in manga and anime to convey emotions, often for comical effect. |
|
|
Marriage
A couple who have made an official vow to stay together. |
|
|
Martial Arts
Seen in just about every form of anime at least at one point. The key component that makes Shounen popular among boys. As well as Ancient art in itself |

Masochist
A Masochist is a type of person who attains gratification out of physical or emotional pain. Abuse/Humiliation. |
|
|
Models
Models are known in Japan as Idols. They are young female models who appear in magazines and advertising. They can often be the public faces for companies. |
|
|
Ninjas
A ninja is a (typically Japanese) warrior, trained in martial arts fighting styles, and whom typically specializes in stealthy tactics and unorthodox arts of war. |
|
|
Nosebleed
Bleeding from the nose, in manga/anime it mostly used as a sight gag that happens when a character is thinking or witnessing something perverted. |
|
|
Nurses
A Nurse is a regular hospital worker and Doctor's assistant. Assisting in the day to day care of patients, they can be male or female. |
|
|
Ojou
A character with an arrogant, bossy attitude, often rich and with some princess-like heritage. |
|
|
Parody
Parody is a style of work that closely resembles or mocks preexisting material or genres for comedic effect. |
|
|
Protagonist
The main character of a story or plot. Most forms of fiction have the protagonist as a hero but there are rare occasions with an evil or not-so-noble protagonist. |
|
|
Robot Girl
Mechanical or electronic automatons that have identifiable female characteristics. They may or may not behave with human-like emotion. |
|
|
Science Fiction And Robots
Seen in many animes and mangas. |
|
|
Scientists
People who through a great pursuit of knowledge tends to make the impossible possible. |
|
|
Shōnen
Literally means "boy" in Japanese, but is also used to refer to Japan's biggest manga demographic: pre-teen and teenage boys. |
|
|
Shyness
When one character has trouble expressing themselves and is very reserved. Usually used in Anime as an endearing quality. |
|
|
Sisters
Female members of a family that share the same parents. |
|
|
Smoker
A person who smokes tobacco. |
|
|
Sports
A common theme in many mangas and animes. |
|
|
Strike a Pose
It is not uncommon for anime heroes and villains to strike over the top poses to make a point, usually about how manly or evil they are. |

Students
A Student is one who is enrolled or attends classes at a school, college, or university. A popular theme among many manga and animes. |
|
|
Talking Animals
Usually special animals that have the ability to speak to humans. Talking animals are a big part in several animes and mangas |
