Natsuki is a karate ace in a private high school where martial arts are a major part of the curriculum. There's fierce rivalry between Natsuki's team and another local school's with an even better reputation for fighting skills. A transfer student from the rival school is attacked by her former classmates, the student president authorizes spying missions, and there are romantic complications, too. The designs are attractive, even though contemporary school stories can date fast because the background detail-what to wear, what bags and accessories are cool, how hair is styled-changes very quickly. This one, based on a 1990 manga from Business Jump by Hirohisa Tsuruta, has enough heart and punch to retain its charm.
