@pepemetalero:

The two years of fillers before Shippuden were ridiculous. Even now, they have way too many fillers. BLEACH is the same. One of the many reasons I like One Piece. That series has very few fillers.

I feel like saskue, madara, or kabuto won't die.

My money is on saskue stealing madara's eyes after naturo just barley beats him or something like that.

@cobra88king8: I think naruto went up in quality after having a downward spiral. Now bleach I quite reading and said after he lost his powers that is the true ending.

I've more or less figured out the way their going to end this series the moment they revealed the existence of a '10-tailed beast' which I personally think is a stupid direction to finish it. My interest in this series had began to wane long ago purely because of the crappy consistency to the overall fiction. It's gotten to a point where you might as well call chakra 'magic' since you can pretty much do anything with it. Introducing these damn monsters as the final challenge makes the trials of these characters up to this point seem kind of pointless.

The ending will probably go something like this: Madara frees the '10-tails' and is promptly devoured by the beast. The armies of all ninja clans stand against it and start by sending their top adult ninja elites. The adults go all out but are taken down one after another. And of course when all hope seems lost Naruto unites with all the kids that have befriended him in a final charge to defeat the monster.

I don't think I'll be satisfied with however the hell the series ends despite how long I have followed it, but I'll give the writer props for at least heading towards a definitive end. I just think the series has ran out of those big 'moments' that I come to expect from shounens. The last 'moment' that Naruto had for me was the death of Jiraiya and everything after that has just been far too ridiculous to really speak to my sensibilities. I almost feel like I have outgrown Naruto considering that I started following it when I was younger. It hasn't really aged as well as other, better series. Having said that, the series was originally targeted at kids and it will most likely end targeted at kids.

Kishi can carry on but he better not make it long and crap, like 600 chapters of filler, if you know what I mean.

I hope Naruto will end soon - that's the only reason I'm still reading, because it definitely does seem to be winding down. But I think the world it's set in has potential. I wouldn't mind seeing another story in "Narutoverse", say 1000 years in the future with a brand new protagonist and all. Like one poster above pointed out, the "chakra" system is pretty much magic - which means there're tons of different kinds of interesting abilities you could give people. That was what made the early Naruto so interesting to me anyway - seeing all those different things in action.

Maybe the new protagonist could be a more versatile (read: interesting) fighter and not just rush everyone while spawning clones.

if this series ends I wouldn't miss it, that's for sure. Though if it was to end right now in Japan it wouldn't make too much of a difference. Despite its popularity in America its only mildly popular in Japan, its below Hunter X Hunter, and One Piece(being the multimillion yen  franchise that it is) plus Toriko looks as though its gonna over take it soon. So I don't think it will be any skin off Shueisha's back if the series ends. Plus its not as though Naruto has added anything new to the shounen formula (seriously what it didn't take from Hunter X Hunter it plagiarized from Ninku).

Though part one was enjoyable part two needs to be taken behind the shed, along with its child of prophecy nonsense.

The main story seems like it's coming to an end. But there are still a lot of interesting side stories that could be left without an end. Kind of like how we don't know what happened to Zuko's mother in Avatar: The Last Airbender even after the series ended.

I totally agree with you

I honestly think it won't go on far longer. Look at it like this way: If Naruto were an RPG, he would've just finished the bonus dungeon and gotten his ultimate weapon and is now in the boss rush before the final boss.

Indeed, and there lies the inherent problem with watching instead of reading :P

@AgentJ:

That's one of the things I don't like about the Naruto and BLEACH animes is that they mix some of their canon stuff with fillers. They even have entire filler arcs that take place right in the middle of canon arcs. One Piece hasn't done that in a very long time.

Yeah, I stopped watching those long shows forever ago, mostly because of the fillers (but also because of the inconsistent anime quality).

I could think of a dozen ways the plot could keep going, but it all really depends on Sasuke vs Naruto, as that if I recall would be the part of the grand finale.

I'd be quite ecstatic if it came to an end soon.  Personally, I haven't liked the writing since the time skip first started.  I did like that it wasn't as formulaic as Bleach fights tend to be.  But still not enough to make me give it the same attention I used to.  However, after reading it for so long I can't help but continue just to see how it does end.

If I remember correctly since this was many, many years back, Masashi Kishimoto went on record saying his plans for the Naruto story was at its mid point with the 1 year time skip, and that things post time skip was the second half of the story.

On a related note, Kubo Tite said that the end of the Aizen arc was only the half way point of the Bleach story as far as he has planned it.
