Fan Service

Fan Service is often a sexually provocative moment or pose that takes place in manga and anime. It usually has no real purpose to a story, and serves as a lurid visual.

Fatherhood as a concept. A man who has conceived or raised a child.

Female Ninjas

A Female Ninja in Japanese is referred to as a kunoichi. They were given special training that took advantage of a woman's natural gifts.

Fighters

The character knows well how to defend him or herself.

Fishing

The act of catching fish, usually with a rod and reel. Is often seen in any anime that takes place outdoors or in settings in the past where fishing was a valuable skill needed to gather food.

Flashback

Used frequently in Anime to either recap past events or provide a back story for a character, either their origin story or their off-screen training of new attack. Sometime and entire episode/chapter would be a entire flashback.

Four Symbols Seal

A sealing technique based on the the fūinjutsu of Uzushiogakure. Best known to be used to conceal the Nine-Tail Demon Fox inside Naruto Uzumaki.

Fox Eyes

When a character always seems to have their eyes shut. This can be used to either show wisdom or mischief.

Genin

Acadamy graduates who get to begin their Ninja training under a Jounin.

Genjutsu

A method of fighting based around using sensory manipulation to confuse an opponent, leaving them open for attack.

Good Turned Bad

Also known as corruption, this is when someone previously goodhearted becomes sinister.

Henchmen

Henchmen, or Lackeys, are the nameless masses under the command of a villain or other leader.

Heroic Sacrifice

An act when someone gives up something of great importance for a greater good.

Hokage

The Leader of Konoha, the hidden leaf village

Hot-blooded

Someone who can't think calmly and always jumps into action without thinking much. They're rather unpredictable for both their allies and their enemies.

Humans

Humans are typically depicted as the dominant species of the planet Earth, and sometimes of other planets. Humans often mirror their real life counterparts in terms of abilities and intellect, while other times they can achieve superhuman feats.

Hyuga Clan

The Hyuga Clan are a bloodline of individuals in the Naruto franchise who all posses the Byakugan.

Immortality

The ability to live beyond a regular human's lifespan.

Inuzuka Clan

The Inuzuka clan are a bloodline of Hidden Leaf ninjas who use dogs for combat. They have fang-like tattoos on their faces and dog-like canines.

Japanese Food

The food of Japan in its many flavors, from its own traditional cuisine (such as sushi) to its adaptations of other nations' foods (be cautious eating American-style Japanese pizza).

Japanese Honorifics are best described as a sign of respect and endearment. Politeness is an important part of Japanese culture and language.

Japanese Writing

Japanese Writing is the writing system of the Japanese language in the form of syllabaries. It consists of Kanji, hiragana, katakana, and romaji.

Jinchuuriki

"Jinchuuriki" meaning the "power of human sacrifice", are those individuals possessing tailed demons within their bodies.

Jonin

A high level Ninja who is usually in charge of training a group of Genin, and are often sent on A and S-Rank missions, sometimes even going alone.

Jutsu

Jutsu is the Japanese word for "art" and some of the techniques in the Naruto Universe.

Kage

The strongest ninja in a village who is also the leader.

Kazekage

Leaders of the Hidden Sand Village. Responsible for making the Hidden Sand Village powerful, despite its small size.

Kidnapping

Capturing and carrying away a person against their will and holding them in false imprisonment .

Konoha Military Police Force

Konoha Military Police Force were the police force of the Hidden Leaf Village. They were originally made up of the Uchiha Clan.

Kuudere

A character, often cold and harsh on the outside; but swirling with feelings inside. Much like an igloo, they keep an ice-cold wall, in an ice-cold world; just to protect the warmth inside.

Leader

The character is in higher rank. in hiearchy. Either he/she's an officer or simply marked as a leader of the group. He/she's the one making the important decisions ragarding the group or organisation he/she's leading.

Lecher

Characters who exercise their strong libidinous desires in unwholesome ways, such as peeping on the objects of their desire, making inappropriate comments, stealing underwear etc. Though typically middle-aged or elderly men with a penchant for young girls, there are probably a few dirty old women out there.

Legendary Parent

Many times in anime and manga, the protagonist of the series will not know who their parent is, or just think they're a regular person, only to later discover that they were a legendary figure or had incredible powers.

Loner

A loner is a person who avoids or does not actively seek human interaction. There are many reasons for solitude, intentional or otherwise. ...

Death of a major character.

Common visual conventions seen in manga and anime to convey emotions, often for comical effect.

Medical Ninja (Naruto)

Medical ninja are ninja who specialise in medical treatment and use of medical-oriented techniques to heal others. Becoming a medical-nin requires high intelligence and excellent chakra control.

Moronic character

The kind of character always gets into trouble by his or her bad luck, silliness, and/or cluelessness. A common source of comedy.

Mother

A woman who has given birth to or raised a child.

Murder

The act of taking another person's life.

Nara Clan

The Nara clan are a bloodline of Hidden Leaf ninjas that wield shadows for use in combat. In addition to that, they own a section of forestland surrounding the village and tend to the deer there.

Ninja Dogs

Ninja Dogs are trained dogs that are used for special tracking and forms of taijutsu and ninjutsu.

Ninjas

A ninja is a (typically Japanese) warrior, trained in martial arts fighting styles, and whom typically specializes in stealthy tactics and unorthodox arts of war.

Ninjutsu

Ninjutsu are techniques that rely on chakra manipulation and allow a ninja to do extraordinary, magic-like things. Ninjutsu usually requires hand seals, although this is not always the case.

Nosebleed

Bleeding from the nose, in manga/anime it mostly used as a sight gag that happens when a character is thinking or witnessing something perverted.

Origin Story

The tale of how a hero or villain came to be who they are.

Orochimaru's Juinjutsu

Orochimaru's Juinjutsu is a cursed seal given to the followers and some victims of Orochimaru. It enhances the chakra of the user as it spread over the body and has two levels of advancement.

Orphan

A child without parents.
