Naota Nandaba, nicknamed "Takkun", is the protagonist of the 6-episode series FLCL.
Naota Nandaba is the 12-year old protagonist of FLCL who lives in the fictional Japanese suburb of Mabase. The show focuses on his struggle with adolescence and the beginning of puberty. He tries to act like his older brother Tasuku who he believes to be the epitome of what it means to be an adult. In his attempt to seem mature he tries to act nonchalant; he opens and closes each episode with a monologue where he claims that "nothing amazing ever happens here" even though many surreal things occur around him each episode. Naota's older brother Tasuku left home to play Baseball in the United States, as a result of this, and Naota's idolization of his brother, he often carries around Tasuku's old baseball bat. He even hangs out with Tasuku's old girlfriend Mamimi; she gives him the nickname "Takkun".
