It took me a while to get used to the drool. Then I ended up loving this show. Can't blame you for being grossed out though.

I'm biased as I love the show but keep watching its gets stranger and the characters evolve in odd directions.The manga has great dream scenes but some of the later chapters drag on to long and don't add anything to the story.

Its a cute Manga and the anime goes a little far with the drool sound effects that gross some people out, I love the music and the old style animation and they really don't go to far with the fan service.

I got a real weirdo vibe from this. The drool was gross and as it goes on it only gets more and more gross with the spit drinking. On top of that, despite the weirdo music and tone it seemed headed toward standard panty shot show territory and I dropped it after about 4 episodes.

Have you seen a lot of romance anime? It's hard for me to believe that this show eventually develops into something capable of giving series like Nana, Honey & Clover, etc a run for their money in terms of being a good romance series.

I couldn't get past the description of this one. Okay, I skimmed through the first episode but I didn't go any farther.

It's not the drool that couples fetish over. It's touching each other's bodies. Kissing is an intimate way of doing that very quickly. Not saying that there isn't some culture out there where saliva is a preferred method of intimacy, but I've never heard about it being in Japanese culture.

I see what you are saying though. Saliva exchange is not really gross considering how people kiss and stuff. Gross isn't quite the word for it, but it is definitely beyond weird considering the volume of saliva exchanged and the obsession over it. There are some insects where saliva is very important to share with a mate, so that's a start.

It's gross because if I stick my finger in my mouth in real life, you couldn't even see the spit on it. In this series, it leaves a thick and goopy honey-like layer that's a few centimeters thick and makes long strings of saliva similar to Ninja Turtle cheesy pizza stretching. In no way is that in line with anything that would happen in real life other than some extreme deepthroat gag porn and it's nothing like what a kiss looks like.

Additionally, the point of kissing isn't to drink spit. That's not the pleasurable aspect of it. In this series, that's so much of what's enjoyable about it that they often leave out the kissing and just go straight to spit drinking. At one point, she fills up a vial with spit and the guy drinks from it every day.

Comparing that to a kiss is lol worthy. It'd be like someone getting grossed out at an anime where someone is squeezed so hard that they explode into a mist of blood and organs and the response is, "what's so gross? People hug all the time." Yeah, that's way more than a hug just like what happens in this is way more than just a simple kiss.

Oh man! Now this is why I love anime! The intrigue and of course the drool in this episode is to die for.

The animation if pretty cool and the art style is definitely unique for 2013. I just couldn't get over the drool. I actually was intrigued by the series but after a while it was devolving into a spit fetish and panty shot show where each episode was seemingly trying to top itself in fanservice and gross out content. It was an easy drop at that point.

This show feels like if David Cronenberg made a chased romanitic comedy about high school teens. I got about 8 episodes deep. It is body horror, the idea of him getting sick from his lack of her drool, is well disturbing. Her mysterious life and then the scissor thing is interesting. The show can be gawked at for it's premise and i'm cool with that, but if you can get over the fetishization of drool, you just might find something.

Personally, things like this never bother me. I also grew up on a steady string of John Waters films.

Chalk this up to a long line of shows that I walked away from thinking, "Every time I was starting to like you, you went and did [blank]." Never quite got over the spit drinking and every time it happened it pulled me out of the show as quickly as Papakiki's insistence on making a little girl eat things that looked... phallic.
