This franchise includes both My-HiME and My-Otome, which are related series in two manners: My-Otome takes place in the same universe as My-Hime but in a distant future, and features characters with similar names and appearances to those in My-HiME.
Mai Tokiha transfers to a new school, where she learns that she and her new classmates are "HiMEs," girls with special powers to fight monsters.
In a distant future, "old technology" (nanomachines) are used to give female virgins combat abilities that allow them to serve as bodyguards and servants to royal families; these are called Meister Otomes.
