My Bride is a Mermaid is an anime of a young boy, Nagasumi, who is rescued from drowning by a mermaid, Sun Seto. Due to mermaid law they must either marry or be executed. Sun is also the daughter of a Yakuza boss.
Plot Overview
Nagasumi Michishio, the male protagonist, visits his grandmothers house for summer vacation. Nagasumi finds himself drowning in the ocean and ends up being saved by Sun Seto, the female protagonist who turned out to be a mermaid. Before Nagasumi can even thank her, him and his family is abducted by group people who looks like yakuza. Turns out the Sun is from family of yakuza that is comprised by mermaids, or merman, and if that alone wasn't threatening enough Sun's father happens to be the leader of yakuza. It is revealed than that when a mermaid's identity was revealed for what ever reason, both human who saw the mermaid and the mermaid who revealed its secret must be executed. With nowhere to run Nagasumi must choose between two choices, either to be killed or to be married with Sun to save both of their live. Obviously Nagasumi chooses the latter to save both of their lives.
However the threat was not gone even after the marriage between the two, because Sun's dad Gouzaburou Seto never approved their marriage in the first place. And so Nagasumi's life is threatened by the forces yakuza every day especially at his school, since including Sun and her dad most of the yakuza family members transfered to his school.
