So, Osamu Tezuka's dark tale MW is getting a live-action movie adaptation, as most of you should already be aware. But now Tokyograph reports that the manga will also be getting a live-action TV drama prequel featuring the same cast, titled MW Dai 0-Shou: Akuma no Game (“ MW Chapter 0: Demon's Game”).
The drama will be a one-time special, and it will air on NTV a few days before the movie opens. It also takes place several months prior to the events of Tezuka's manga, and introduces the demonic Michio Yuuki, in an original story featuring a man who lost his job and home due to a recession (timely?). This character, Takashi Morioka (played by Takeru Sato, of Kamen Rider Den-O and Princess Princess D fame), winds up falling into Yuuki's trap and falling to the depths of darkness in an attempt to protect those he loves.
I dunno about you, but I'm going to sit here twiddling my thumbs and praying to god that someone makes both the movie AND the prequel available to North American audiences in short order. Because I wants them, my precioussss.
I guess I can just go read the manga again for now. (And so should you-- Vertical released it in a single volume back in October '07.)
