When a another universe starts to fall apart, the only one who can save them is a ordinary child with unlimited possibilities

Munto is a two-episode original video animation (OVA) project by Kyoto Animation, first released in 2003 titled Munto followed by a 2005 sequel Munto 2: Beyond the Walls of Time. An animated television series entitled Sora o Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai based on the OVAs was produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Yoshiji Kigami. The TV series is a nine-episode continuation of the OVAs, and aired in Japan between January and March 2009 on Chiba TV. The TV series includes an updated director's cut of the OVA episodes with new animation and footage. A manga adaptation of the TV series illustrated by Makoto 2-gō began serialization in the May 2009 issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace magazine. An animated film named Tenjōbito to Akutobito Saigo no Tatakai was released on April 18, 2009.

Two kingdoms beyond our world are fighting over an energy source known as akuto. To save the Kingdom of the Heavens and the Magical Kingdom, Magical King Munto must find a human girl, Yumemi, whom a prophetic vision has suggested will save the universe. Yumemi is just an ordinary schoolgirl, but she's the only human who can see the islands of the Heavens floating above us. As a result, she's not even certain she's sane, and persuading her to find the courage to believe Munto and save his people will be a tough task. A sub-Escaflowne or Brigadoon fantasy, which feels curiously old-fashioned, this also harks back to the remarkable Leda: Fantastic Adventures of Yoko, though without its powerful sexual and emotional tension. A sequel, M2: Toki no Kabe wo Koete, followed in 2004.

Yumemi Hidaka (日高 ユメミ, Hidaka Yumemi) is our main character. In this story she is cute, compassionate, curious not to mention in love. Her world is different from most when she looks down at the floor she sees the sky but as she looks up at the sky she sees floating islands. Munto the boy she sees in her visions guides her through her dreams until he comes to retrieve her for help. She excepts the quest but she realizes she cant do this alone without her friends by her side.

Munto (ムント) Is the king of the Magical Kingdom. But he is not the only one. The other rulers have seen the danger and they have started a war between the kingdoms. Munto is left with no choice but to defend his home. He visits Earth to find Yumemi. Yumemi cant help Munto without her friends which shows the more braver. worried side of Munto. Later he falls in love with Hidaka but before he can confess he has to complete is duty.
